I was hoping to scrape a 12 month+ results database, does anyone know if that's available anywhere?
https://promo.betfair.com/betfairsp/prices/

Following is a link to about 14-15 months of data up to I believe August of last year where I've split out the course, trap, winner, distance

I've posted elsewhere think it was in the excel area a file downloader that can be modified to do greyhounds
Thanks. I have a spreadsheet (from this forum) that downloads the Betfair Price data and I process this into my own PostgreSQL database.

I was looking to produce and maintain my own database with full result details so I could reproduce the same kind of interface that is on Racing Post or Timeform, ultimately with a view to compiling my own ratings. I got as far as scraping the result page URLs off Timeform for the past 18 months but that was from 1 page per day to find them, processing 100 results pages per day I couldn't get around Timeform's server security!

After reading the Greyhound Mystique thread and the Trading Greyhounds thread I am going to look at pulling the data I need on a daily basis,, possibly from Racing Post. I'm a software developer so the tip someone posted about finding the private API is useful as this will be much easier to use than HTML scraping.
Be careful when getting a dogs last run time history, there are often discrepancies between RacingPost, SportingLife and TimeForm. We never did find out why.

The most accurate seemed to be the data on https://www.gbgb.org.uk/racing/results/

Each track uploads their data to that site and I think some sort of reconciliation goes on and as a result the data is far more accurate.

Having said all that, many believe ratings for Dogs outside of A1, A2 and A3 is somewhat misleading because of Track/Trap bias. Some tracks have allot of bumping in Traps 3 and 4 unless ofcourse a dog is very quickly away.

You would be better off analysing the following:

Grade, Track, Trap

Take Yarmouth, Trap 6 has an overall win rate of 9% but if the favourite is in that Trap then it rises to 19%. But if the favourite is running in Trap 4 then its 47.5%

So, doesnt take a genius to work out that there are repeatable patterns depending on the Grade, Track and Trap.

Have fun,

Exploring alternatives for importing greyhound race data into Excel for simulation purposes, users have faced challenges with Paddy Power and UKDogs feed.

Unfortunately, despite thorough searches, no viable alternatives have been found thus far. Suggestions or insights from the community would be greatly appreciated.

I ran a basic lay the fav betangel automation file on all greyhound races yesterday to a race liability of £2.00 and ended up 6 quid up at the end of the day on UK races I haven't analyzed the Aussie results yet.

Not sure what race data you wanted, results or cards but I managed to build a python script before Xmas that scrapes all the Racing Post greyhound websites daily cards and puts it all in an excel sheet for me.
It's works well and wasn't that difficult to do. I used chatgbt to write all of the scripts. You just have to feed chatgbt with the logic of what you want. It took about a week to get it all done and working.
