When you say the last race times do you mean the last race that they had? or the worst time they had recorded?Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 10:17 amHi,
Ever needed to know which Greyhound will shorten in price with 99% accuracy ?
Any questions then let me know.
Have fun.
Also I would agree with a previous post it takes a lot of effort to populate the race card each day so if you could automate that process you would be flying

Hi Shaun,ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:17 pmYou mentioned that this is a popular technique with punters so presumably you're preempting their money arriving and the price shortening because of it? Would other popular dog selection methods yield similar results?
The original posting has been edited so I'm not sure of the details, but there seems to be an element of filling the spread with offers too. How much of your profit do you think is down to the dog analysis, and how much is down to having your offers matched? By the way, when are you closing these, scheduled start?
Its been popular with straight backers for a long time i think as its well documented on a website. I just thought, if everyone starts backing the matching selection then the price is going to shorten and i can trade out. I am closing when 6 ticks profit and then repeating the process from 30mins to 0.50 seconds before the start of each race. Until the 3 minute mark then the gaps between back / lay prices is huge, i nip in with a poor value offer, if someone jumps in front of me then i cancel and jump in front of them. I presume these are market making bots as they react very quickly to my trades. But when the money starts coming in they tend to leave the party and i get matched at good price compared to waiting until the market has properly formed etc.
Not sure if its down to dog analysis or getting matched. What this method highlights is dogs that will shorten, probably because of the number of backers who are driving the price down by using the same method. I am just jumping in and trading out for equal profit before race start.
Cheers,

We take each dogs best time and last race time recorded. Reason being their best time could have been 5 races ago and since then they have raced not as good.obitus wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:20 pmWhen you say the last race times do you mean the last race that they had? or the worst time they had recorded?Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 10:17 amHi,

Thanks for the extra info Archery1969, I've always thought the popular punting methods must point to some sort of activity but hadn't got around to looking at it yet. Dogs more so than any other sport I'd imagine, because the system followers represent a larger proportion of the overall volume that those sports which are more followed, such as the horses. I bot the dogs too, approx 4 in each of about 90% of all races in either hemisphere so anything new always attracts my attention. I'm not sure I'll be competing with you though so not to worry, mainly because I'm reluctant to spend the time gathering the data. Like most people my day is pretty busy and regimented anyway, and I've got a todo list/year plan that's already a year's worth, so I think I'll stick to doing my own thing.
Good luck with it, it's a nice idea, and a big effort to implement, what ever you make isn't winnings, it's been earned. It's a case study for anyone new who thinks automation is downloading a sample and putting their feet up. Far from it.

Yep, it’s been a learning curve but well worth the daily effort for the past 3 months or so. I guess the next step is working out if I am better to open the trade and close 50 seconds before the off or closing after 6 ticks and repeating the process. I went for the latter because the odds can jump up and down very quickly so I wanted to lock in some profit. Once I get it fully automated then I will do some study around when is the best time to close each trade etc.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 8:59 pmThanks for the extra info Archery1969, I've always thought the popular punting methods must point to some sort of activity but hadn't got around to looking at it yet. Even if it was to fail tomorrow it’s been a good learning curve for me and I have made some nice profits in a relatively short period of time. Looking at some of the threads on here then I seem to be in the minority. Allot of people seem to chasing shadows and the dream with no effort or thought on what their doing.

A bit of profit today over 12 races. Just a question when to scale up.

Scaled up a little, always good to get off to a flyer. A little more selective today as 140 markets are too many...
