Senna by a distance for me with Hamilton 3rd on that list.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:05 pmUniversally hated in ths country?jamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:01 pmHamilton appears to be almost universally hated in this country. I just can't see how he can win. But then you look at what he's up against. Such a weak line-up. Fury was my choice and now he's pretty much taken himself out of the running.
You have got to be f***ing kidding.
The guy is brilliant.
Imagine a season with Senna, Schumacher and Hamilton.
Pick your winner from that lot.
Senna only won 3 championships but 2 of them were with Prost as a team mate. Different era when teams actually had no problem pairing top drivers together.
Schumacher like Hamilton always had a weak teammate except in 2008 when Hamilton was paired with Alonso. I'd put Schumi ahead of Hamilton because he was a better developer of a car, went to Benetton and turned the car into a WC car and did the same at Ferrari. Also Schumacher would never be beaten by a team mate unlike Hamilton who was beaten by Rosberg. Also Hamilton is enjoying a period of dominance in that Mercedes just like Vettel did in the Red Bull.
Saying Hamilton is universally disliked is a bit OTT but he does rub some people up the wrong way probably because he's constantly jumping on bandwagons and trying to push Brand Hamilton. BLM is a worthy bandwagon to jump on but before that there was always something else. To me he always came across as a bit disingenuous but fair play to him, you cant deny his achievements.
Sports Personality of the Year: Tyson Fury to remain on shortlist

World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury is to remain on this year's Sports Personality of the Year award shortlist, says the BBC.
Fury, 32, is one of six sports stars shortlisted for the annual award, which will be presented on 20 December.
On Wednesday, he posted a video on his social media accounts asking for the BBC to "please take me off your list".
But a BBC spokesperson said Fury would remain on the list because it is decided by an independent panel.
"The shortlist is decided by an independent expert panel who choose contenders based on their sporting achievement in a given year," said the BBC.
"On this basis Tyson Fury will remain on the list for Spoty 2020.
"As always the winner will be decided by the public voting during the live show and it is of course up to Tyson if he chooses to participate in the show."
Fury had said that he was "the people's champion and have no need for verification or any awards".

Every F1 fan i know loves Hamilton. He doesn't come from a background of privilege. He has found sponsors for his career by sheer talent. He has never 'bought' a seat in a car. He is one of my heroes.Naffman wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:19 pmEvery F1 fan I know hates Hamilton, they think he's a good driver but just can't stand his personality...and I agree such a weak line-up if he doesn't win this year he never will...not like he'd/anyone would be too bothered.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:05 pmUniversally hated in ths country?jamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:01 pmHamilton appears to be almost universally hated in this country. I agree. Felt robbed of a Schumacher/Senna head to head. Such is life. Absent heroes.Dallas wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:47 pmEqual cars - Sennagreenmark wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:05 pmUniversally hated in ths country?jamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:01 pmHamilton appears to be almost universally hated in this country. Me included. F1 fan for over 40 years, loathe and detest Hamilton the hypocrite who tries to force his minority views down everyone's throat any chance he gets. He also betrays his white Mother every time he opens his big gob. Makes my skin crawl to see him hob-nobbing on Phillip Green's yacht!Naffman wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:19 pmEvery F1 fan I know hates Hamilton, they think he's a good driver but just can't stand his personality...and I agree such a weak line-up if he doesn't win this year he never will...not like he'd/anyone would be too bothered.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:05 pmUniversally hated in ths country?jamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:01 pmHamilton appears to be almost universally hated in this country. ...You clearly don't know many genuine F1 fans.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:51 pmEvery F1 fan i know loves Hamilton. He doesn't come from a background of privilege. He has found sponsors for his career by sheer talent. He has never 'bought' a seat in a car. He is one of my heroes.
Lewis has utterly betrayed the sporting principle of never politicising sport. He has literally bullied people into supporting his minority causes and the borderline terrorist organisation that is BLM.

I'll have to take a day to process that tirade. No I won''t. What 'minority causes' are you referring to.;Crazyskier wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 7:21 pm...You clearly don't know many genuine F1 fans.

BLM and equality are not minority causes. I say 'well done' to lewis and his
campaigning . He's got balls.
