I've been playing about with cross-matching this afternoon thanks to the new flag in the latest BA update.
I always assumed cross-matching was switched off for horse racing place markets, but apparently not? How does cross-matching work when there is more than one winner?

I must be missing something. But if there's more than one winner, how can cross matching work?ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 6:41 pmBased on current price I assume like the other markets ?

You will get matched if your back bet will make up more than 200% for Top2 or 300% for Top3 places instead of the 100% calculation for winners market.

Cross matching gets switched off for horse races when they go in-play.
But for the Lingfield 13:50 there was a late withdrawal that was not removed by Betfair in time for the race. And when the race went into play Betfair left cross matching switched on throughout. Was this an error or standard practice for a late withdrawal? If so then why?

Cross matching remains on InPlay. If there is a late withdrawal, it goes off.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Thu Nov 27, 2025 2:03 pmCross matching gets switched off for horse races when they go in-play.

No wonder I've found it all so confusing!

Does this mean you're quids in whenever there is a late withdrawal and XM is switched off?LinusP wrote: ↑Thu Nov 27, 2025 3:22 pmI wishjamesedwards wrote: ↑Thu Nov 27, 2025 2:03 pmCross matching gets switched off for horse races when they go in-play.

Here's the original link to the day that they switched it on (15 Years ago!):

Will we still all be doing this in another 15 years
