Imagine financial trading apps putting a monthly limit... oh I can't go on, it's too hilarious to continue.ilovepizza82 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 9:19 amImagine "Steam" or "Origin" putting £25 monthly limit on your account because you spend too much money on video games...
...or Ebay because you have shopping addiction problem. Its getting ridicilous. Reminds me of Chinese social credit where they punish people if you dont buy healthy food or spend too much time playing video games.

Just FWIW with Betdaq, the only communication I've had with Betdaq with regards to the gambling reforms or betting limits is when I made a series of deposits, nothing too large 3 x 3 figure amounts over the course of a couple of weeks when the flat season was getting into its pomp. All I had was an email just asking if I was comfortable betting at the limits I was betting at. I confirmed yes, all is fine and they've left me alone ever since.

You have to do that or how do you keep on top of their mistakes?
...same here - I like to check bets unmatched/matched, P&L etc. on the BF website, but only place bets through BA.

On the one hand they're imposing restrictions, while with the other they've sent me 4 x £5 free bets this month. Go figure.
I'm not sure what other people have done who rely on Betfair for a living, but I've tried to preempt problems by regularly reminding them about my situation, including letting them know what sports I plan to bet on, my expected turnover, number of bets etc for the upcoming month. The reason being that I hope £1.5m/month staked and 100,000 bets won't be seen as problem gambling..... if I planned to do it.
So far so good. All this account restriction stuff is a pain but seeing as I need them more than they need me, I'm just trying to do all I can from my end and it's also a good history of evidence if I do have problems. Can't do any harm to try and be proactive. Maybe no good but definitely no harm.

They are hinting, Shaun, be on the alert!))ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 2:57 pmOn the one hand they're imposing restrictions, while with the other they've sent me 4 x £5 free bets this month. Go figure.

Genuine question. What do you say in reply to that to stop them restricting your account? I'm guessing "I have a large lifetime profit and therefore don't ever feel out of control with my gambling as I'm not a gambling addict" may not be best, even if it's true. They are asking you to prove a negative. I know I'm not a gambling addict, but how on earth do you prove to someone that's true. It's a joke.

As I said, tell them what you plan to do in the future because what you've done in the past isn't as relevant.?aperson wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 3:15 pmGenuine question. There are probably people that lost their trading bank on an outage and then got limited because of it, that one would hurt!napshnap wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 12:52 pmImagine financial trading apps putting a monthly limit... oh I can't go on, it's too hilarious to continue.ilovepizza82 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 9:19 amImagine "Steam" or "Origin" putting £25 monthly limit on your account because you spend too much money on video games...

Overall the more security we seek, the less freedom we have

If they'd sent me 4 x £5,000 then maybe I could kickstart a habit. Hopefully next month it'll be 2 grams of Charlie.napshnap wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 3:14 pmThey are hinting, Shaun, be on the alert!))ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 2:57 pmOn the one hand they're imposing restrictions, while with the other they've sent me 4 x £5 free bets this month. Surely you're at risk of flagging your account up for closer scrutiny in doing that though.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 3:22 pmAs I said, tell them what you plan to do in the future because what you've done in the past isn't as relevant.?aperson wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 3:15 pmGenuine question.
