Couldn't find a better place to put this :

Betfair/Flutter newspaper stuff
As cash becomes a distant memory, I suspect betting shops also will.
I don't really understand why Star Sports are buying/refurbing etc. Maybe just more brand awareness before Ben sells.

Not surprised really, I spent many years in the bookies when there was no alternative. But why sit in vinyl tile wonderland with your crap vending machine coffee when you can sit in comfort on your phone in a nice cafe next door or at home ?
And its not like it's the only place to watch dog and horse races either which used to be the #1 main draw. Betfair TV put another nail in the coffin by taking away their USP in a heartbeat.

The betting office could still be exist in the next 10/20years, if it evolved into the form/style of an internet cafe to attract and keep regular customers. With a tweak in technology, access to the exchanges alongside their own betting products could all improve the customer experience by serving food and beverages as well.
It could look like a trading office and maybe charge an entry fee or membership option that covers the food/drinks/access to technology. They could access the exchange feed with the display individually tailored for each customer... (VR headset?)
All this could appeal to the younger generation as the old guard drop away one by one. The staffing would be more geared to tech support and customer services.
Individual cash betting terminals with cash membership cards could work with winnings taken in cash from an ATM. The UK casinos already have cash membership cards, although the cash can only be withdrawn from their cashiers. The card can be used online on their website too.
If the world of crypto could finally get a cash card system that converted crypto to Fiat at an ATM or when purchasing normal stuff at a till, then that would be a game changer too. In this way it wouldn't be a far stretch to use crypto in betting offices.
Of course affordability checks could be the ultimate death knell, time will tell.
