The next traders meetup is on the evening of 17th Nov, it's being held at Betfair HQ this time. Is anyone from here planning to go?

They have their critics but I can't think of another company who's so open to interacting with customers, regardless of how much they earn. Credit where its due I think.
Where is Betfair HQ?
Hammersmith.

Scottish Power isn't renowned for its customer service but allows you to phone or email them. You don't have to turn up at their HQ.
You get generic helpline, but not a direct number. And I'm not sure the Scottish Power helpline would tell you what plans they had or give you a chance to influence it. Nobody will ever give direct access to their entire customer base but BF will if they think you're serious, which might mean demonstrating that once or twice.

And if you hadn't posted, not many people here would know they've got the opportunity to travel a few hundred miles to speak to a Bumfair rep, which most organizations let you do over the phone!
It's hardly my fault if people don't look beyond this place, and it's not just queuing up to get generic support. It's on a totally different level and face to face chats with other traders or Betfair can be valuable. Peter sees the value of going to see them and lots of people seemed to have questions, its refreshing that that opportunity doesn't depend on how big a customer you are.

I get the gripes but trading for us isn't a game it's our business and Imo sometimes you have to put in some effort to nurture a B2B relationship with your main supplier even if its a massive pain in the arse or you feel that shouldn't be necessary.

But tbh I couldn't give a toss who went, I'm just posting because as you said some might not know about these things and might like the chance for a get together. The fact Betfair are there is almost secondary.

..... Just so you know Derek the last thing on earth I want to do is travel 3 and a half hours each way and be in a crowd who just talk about sport. I'm a self sufficient hermit and hate all that with a passion but I don't see any other way so I force myself to do it once a year. And getting home again is the best bit.

Does anyone who works for Betfair (previously or currently) have access to this forum?
Of course they do, why do you think I always support their view when there's moaning is going on, using my name? That's on top of the occasional message to them to thank them when they resolve a problem, aka ass kissing.... And the upshot is that although I'm small-time (I only pay about a grand a month in commission) i've got an account manager, free TPD data and a desk full of freebies

There's no cash benefit in being a hater... I ❤️ Betfair :D
The reason people get negative is that the treatment Betfair give seems to be on a bit of a whim.

While you have all those free things and are here promoting another meet up, I can’t even get a Christmas greetings from them despite funding them to a massive degree directly and in-directly. I pay thousands a week in commission.

I often get customers asking if I’m going to events I don’t even know about.

Go figure.

You can only put up with that for so long before you just get a bit pissed. I mean not even an email at Christmas!

I love Betfair, but I’m treated very poorly. It’s a good way to lose business and investment. In contrast, I pay way less to other businesses, in and out of the sports market and get treated like a king.

The difference is so stark.

I'm not fussed about a Christmas greeting but a planned maintenance email wouldn't go amiss. If they can automatically email you when you use an incorrect password or code, it shouldn't be beyond their wit to manage an email list.

I just used Christmas greetings as an example of the lack of care.

Honestly, I don’t think we should promote meet ups on this forum, Betfair should offer to fund one for Bet Angel users. At least then we can see some benefit come back to us.

For me it's glass half full vs half empty. Yes Betfair are less than ideal, but they're better than others. And I don't know about you but without Betfair I'd need a CV so I can take a fair amount of the abusive relationship as part of the job.

I do understand your frustration, especially as you have a B2B relationship in addition to being a regular customer, but it's not going to change any time soon so it just is what it is. I know a couple of freebies are meaningless but they serve the same purpose for me as a Christmas card would for you, it's a gesture.

I will say though that making the effort to engage can improve your chances of getting better service. I'm always surprised how few people go to events like the one in Southwell, although Betfair as a company are lousy I've always found the people understand our issues and will try to go the extra yard for you even if you aren't a big shot. But you only get that chance to connect face to face and it isn't going to happen using the chatbot.

Wow, the meetups are primarily a social event, open to anyone. It's not about promoting product and if other groups are more proactive on the social side and arranging things then I don't think that's a bad thing. Mo and Liam are the guys that organise the meetups and they involve Betfair, not the other way round, nobody here does that.

I get the reasons are genuine, and I know you all have good intent. It’s just when we have tried to do things in the past Betfair couldn’t be less interested. I’m not looking for promotion, just a chance to get people together.

It just feels like they trying to get away with what they can and don’t want to make a contribution.

It just feels uncomfortable and doesn’t sit well.

I don't think the intended audience was here anyway, it's publicised by Betcode slack community, i think Shaun was just getting views on who might go from here, and i think he succeeded with that.

Maybe we can encourage Elon Musk to buy the exchange and get it back to original concept without the sneaky Sportsbook

I’ve met MT several times. I’d imagine most people there will know about pricing markets.

What I’m trying to say is that Betfair need to be more proactive to promote in general and support that.

That’s all I’m trying to say. This is just a case in point.

I don't use betcode and I don't use BA either, imo the intended audience is anyone who fancies talking to like minded people. That's it. People can decide for themselves if they're interested and what they talk about if they go. I won't bother mentioning any more though.
