I see that Betfair have changed their T&C's today. Have these items always been in there?

12. Suspicious Betting

12.1.1 where there is an inordinate frequency and/or highly unusual pattern of Bets (by comparison with betting norms) placed on the same selection(s) in a short space of time;
12.1.2 where there is an inordinate frequency and/or highly unusual pattern of Bets placed on the same selection(s) and where the theoretical probability of said selection(s) winning at the time of Bet(s) placement, based on the odds offered on the selection(s) at the time of Bet placement, is largely inconsistent with the theoretical probability of the same selection(s) winning calculated using their accumulated starting prices. By way of illustrative example only, if there was an inordinately large number of Bets placed on a multiple or permutation with combined odds of 250/1 (with a theoretical 0.004% probability of winning based on the odds) and that same multiple or permutation had combined odds of 12/1 based on the Starting Prices of the selections (a theoretical 7.7% probability of winning), this may trigger the suspicions contemplated by this clause 12.1.2;

12.1.4 where we have reasonable grounds to suspect that a Bet or a string of connected Bets were placed robotically, by automated means, or otherwise than through the Account holder placing each Bet manually via their Account;

I don't know if they've changed as I don't often look at them, but 12.1.4 should automatically disqualify anyone who uses automation?

Don't think that was there before. Is that something that has potentially come out of the gambling review. I know its never been allowed for on-line Casino games etc.

If they're using it for suspicious betting. It's not automation in general.

The way that paragraph is worded it appears as a definition of suspicious betting and that it's against the rules to use automated systems to place bets.

The stuff about automation has been in there for ages. I remember seeing it back in 2020 when I was reading the t&cs after my account had been suspended.

Those rules may have been written in the early days before the API was exposed to vendors. If that's the case, it would be nice if they updated their T&C.

Not just vendors - there's a whole ecosystem of bettors/traders using BF's published API which that clause taken in isolation would impact :roll:

I've just logged into Betfair on my phone so I can pop out for a fag while watching a market. They've made changes to their T&C but I can't flipping read the message on a 4" by 2" smartphone. They didn't tell me this morning when I logged in on my laptop! :x

A lot of betfairs t&cs are just a copy of paddy powers, including the suspicious betting section, so maybe the automation ban was only written for PP but nobody bothered to amend it?
