Does anyone know the impact of increasing download and upload speeds on Betangel response times please
I currently get 8 mbs (download) and 1 mbs (upload). I am looking to increase to a minimum of 35mbs. Does anyone know what difference they will make in ms to the reponse times on the ladders or the one click screen
I will have to get this service privately
Many thanks in advance
Impact on Internet speeds on Trading (Inplay)
None, it's not the bandwidth that matters. A 2Mbps connection will work just as well as a 200Mbps connection.
It is ping time that matters, the lower this is the better, you can use sites the one below if you want to see how your system is performing
www.pingtest.net
But Betfair also cache data now no matter how fast your ping is above a certain speed it will just return stale data.

That's polling yeah? Streamed data comes in packets iro 17ms apart from what I can see which is a hair faster than the fastest BA refresh rate.
But totally agree, the quantity of data is tiny so it's about the pressure in the plumbing not the size of the pipe.

BTW pingtest is defunct. Just use the std Ookla speed test.

Thanks Guys my ping rate is 27 ms and my download speed is 9 mbs
Is that poor and will it make a noticable difference upgrading to my trading
Just another thought will it make a difference to the speed of the betfair pictures
Is there any difference in bet placement delays between the ladders and the one click screen please
Thanks

As above, latency is going to be your issue, not bandwidth. If you are a gamer you'll know the affect a poor ping to a server will have on online performance. One thing I do is hardwire all my trading kit to my router, never use wifi for anything critical. If you know what you are doing security wise you can put the same kit in a DMZ so not to introduce addtional latency through your firewall etc - though that is probably overkill...

When your best reaction time without needing to think is iro 200ms then you'd be better off having an espresso than finding 5ms on your ping. You wanted a comparison, speed really matters to me, i automate but not with BA and my ping is about 1ms, d/load is an OTT 800mb and I'm still not the first in the queue.fractalmodel wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 9:41 amThanks Guys my ping rate is 27 ms and my download speed is 9 mbs
