Horse Racing - In-Play Lay bet

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help?

I sometimes lay 1 or 2 horses in-play at the back end of a race using the ladder. As you are aware the strike price starts to get very erratic at this stage but buy using the ladder I can often get matched as I place the bet well above the middle (as such ie towards the top of the ladder, most probably quite away above the last strike price!)

The question is, is there a sleeker way to do this and how?
