I'd just pop out to McDonald's and take it back to my hideout.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 7:58 pmThink I would keep eating the ants rather than the National dish of Borscht.Derek27 wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 7:48 pmMichael Clarke says he'd be surprised if SAS/SBS troops aren't in Ukraine, not to fight but for reconnaissance and intelligence gathering. I know war is ugly but this article was another that made me realise what a stupid process is going on.

He uses his age as an excuse but he was just as prone to slip-ups as president.Euler wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 12:22 pmFormer President George W. Bush: “The decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq. I mean of Ukraine.”

Very good Lex Fridman podcast hosting Oliver Stone. Worth the watch imo… bit lengthy but worth it.

A DAD of two has run off with a Ukrainian refugee just ten days after he and his partner welcomed her into their home.
I knew it would happen sooner or later!

I've just stumbled across this beautiful house in Odesa for $480K and wonder if it's still standing.

I went to Odesa in 2010, beautiful place. And the women weren’t half bad either.Derek27 wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 10:09 pmI've just stumbled across this beautiful house in Odesa for $480K and wonder if it's still standing.

I bet that house is now worth £100.
I don't think Odesa's been heavily bombed so far but I wouldn't buy it right now, even if I had the money. Would be a nice place to bring a bird back to though.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 3:19 pmI went to Odesa in 2010, beautiful place. I see it has an alarm button straight through to the police? Is it a bad neighbourhood? Is that a common thing over there?
You can get a house and land 4 times the size for same price in regional Australia China may one day bomb us, but I guess that's too far off to worry about right now...
... I got no idea, but I would say they best value would be places that have already or are currently being bombed....people have a nack of wanting to get out of bombed places while the bombings happening...
For £381K, you'd struggle to find a house like that in the UK. In London it would probably be £600K-£800K. I wouldn't mind retiring to Australia if you can get cheap property. I'm still waiting for a bit of decent weather over here.johnsheppard wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 9:45 pmI see it has an alarm button straight through to the police? Is it a bad neighbourhood? There was an interesting article at the weekend about Australia saying that in 10 years time most parts will be inhabitable due to fires and flooding caused by climate change. Its too late to turn the clock back. It also went onto say that hardly anyone will be able to get property insurance.Derek27 wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 10:11 pmFor £381K, you'd struggle to find a house like that in the UK.
