Has anyone found/got a greenhouse thermostat that handles highs (fan) and lows (heat) that doesn't just use a set point with high/low offsets.... Ie it doesn't just heat or cool to the one set point. And more importantly has seperate day and night modes? I've got one for my sealed grow space but it was about 350 quid (gse 16a fan controller which is the dogs nads) but I don't really want to spend the same again. 10-12 at night, 22-30 during the day is surely basic rather than needing a controller like a commercial grower?

I've got one very similar to that (elitech stc-1000) and the problem was you set one temp, say 19deg and then say +9 for fan and -10 for heat..... And the heat comes on as it should at 9deg, or the fan at 28....but they won't switch off until it gets to 19.

But at that price I guess you'd just use 2 of them, one for heat and one for fans and accept day and night will be the same. I'm suffering from the usual scope creep and want to automate everything.

Got a Thai pea auberhine :D It should fruit next summer. Hard to germinate and it's taken 60 days.
Thai round aubergines are about 3" tall. That curry next summer better be good

I've had 65/200 Cannas germinate from those cheap maraca seeds. :)

Here's one you'll appreciate Derek, how many contradictions can you get on one plant label. A well-drained water feature is one thing but how deep?

I "foraged" some water Iris from a drainage ditch (don't phone Grenpeace there was miles of the stuff choking it) and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them.

Why do some blades of grass grow five times quicker than the rest?

Not possible to cut the grass with all the rain we're having so I'm just watching them grow, 12 inches plus!!

Elephant Hawk moth catapillar. I'm trying to find my inner Chris Packham and see the beauty but it's about 9cm long and a bit freaky tbh.

What the flipping hell is this? It looks like two flying things attached at the tail!

I think I've got it, they're mating. I was watering the lawn but it didn't stop them. They just climbed up the shed to get away from the water.

Yeah, I recognise them now but I initially thought it was one insect with two heads.

So, their babies will be flying about the garden in a week or two. The cat will be pleased. :)

No, their babies are large maggoty things called "Leather Jackets" ... they live below the surface of the lawn eating the roots and the base of the stems of the grass and other small weeds in the lawn.
