Just like with Bohemian Rhapsody they all said it was too long and could never be a hit ... it went on to be the title track for one of the best-selling albums of all time, having sold over 43 million copies worldwide. It is certified 14x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). As of June 2019, it spent 522 weeks in the UK Albums Chart beaten only by Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. And will probably now experience a rebirth. If you don't know what I'm referring to you ain't lived! :o

Heard the sad news this morning about his passing

TBH I never liked his music but remember my late teens everyone around me seemed to love everything he done so there was no escaping it for me

Each year I do a major meeting I put a soundtrack on to keep me going. For the MC one year I chose Meatloaf as the soundtrack, just for a laugh. There is some depth in his music, despite the main tracks he is known for.

I didn't clock till that week that he did a duet with Cher!

I didn't even realise he was Meat Loaf, I thought that was the name of his group! Wasn't a fan but as well as enjoying his best hits his music was quite listenable, whatever the track.

I initially thought it was a new law brought in by a vegetarian government.

Bat out of Hell was unadulterated musical theatre. It is marmite, of course, as was Meatloaf.
I was sceptical when bought it by a good friend years after it was hit.
Some of her favourites were Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper and Bruce Springsteen, so you can see the theme of raucous, up tempo stadium rock. No-one was more raucous than Meatloaf though.
But my friends influence made me give it some time. It now just makes me grin when I hear it.

He was truly larger than life, wild, extravagant musically.
