If you didn't see Chris Hoy's doc on the keirin on the BBC last night its well worth a watch. I'm not a fan of cycling but this was really interesting.

It originated in Japan after the 2nd world war specifically as a sport that people could bet on and is one of only 4 sports in Japan that's its legal to have a wager on. As such its a £10 billion industry and the biggest race of the year for the sport the Keirin Grand Prix, more is bet on that day than is bet on the entire British horse racing season! :o

Need to get this sport on Betfair! :)

I am aware of Keirin, and how popular it is. But on your recommendation I did watch the BBC documentary and it made EXCELLENT viewing with the western perspective !!! Good call Pat, NICE one ...
It was refreshing after watching that awful Panorama documentary.

I watched the event at the last Olympics but had no idea about the story behind it, was a really interesting watch. I love watching programmes like that where you genuinely learn something from them.

Pat. Imagine Jox & Connections having to give their race stratergies pre-race. That would be an entirely different game changer ;)

"Tales of the Riverbank"; "pogles' Wood"; "Fireball XL5" - I could go on - and on - and on!

Back in them days, us peasants new there plaice! Now - with all this modern "intu-netty-majigory" we'm bean encouraged to explore places where we woz never dezigned to visit! I mean, all this "trading" mullarky! Wot's all that about? Them days woz simple and suited us simple folk. Place a bet, lose your money, drown your sorrows in a few pints, then have another go next Saturday...

If you REALLY want to watch summat, then I beg of 'ee, watch what you'm a doin'. There's so many pitfalls out there to catch the unwary, novice trader!

Me, I'm off to re-watch the full CD series of Fireball XL5 (Yes its true - I'm that sad and have the whole series on DVD, LOL) and to cogitate (it ain't illegal or taxable - yet!) with regard to where I go from here as a trader!

Yes, you guessed it, I've had another sh*t week! LOL

Take care all. :-)

I've just stumbled across this Russian website. Haven't registered yet but all the old comedys and programmes I'd like to watch but can't find on iPlayer or YouTube seem to be on this site, in complete series. :D

Interesting short documentary about Japanese keirin riding fronted by Chris Hoy on iPlayer. One of just 4 sports they can bet on. Biggest race of the year sees more money staked than the whole of UK horse racing for the whole year!

Never heard of IPTV so I looked it up and discovered Android TV boxes. That's all I need. :D
