But if you went to somebody for advice, how would you define if they were successful?
But would you even want to give advice to somebody that doesn't believe you and is asking you to prove your credibility beforehand?

If you're teaching someone then I think a good level of transparency is a must, for them to fully grasp the whole picture etc.

Tricky question Peter. I've been trading full-time for years and making my living from this. I am a psychiatrist as well but haven't been working as a doctor since we came to the UK. But I can name myself as a 'pro trader' and a 'mental health pro'. So I guess the term pro would refer to both 'earnings' and 'education'.

"Full-time" sounds appealing but Full-time nusre?
Just use trader, and people picking a trainer do it the way you'd pick a driving instructor, by recommendation from a trustworthy source.

It's the 3rd anniversary of this thread on Saturday.

Choosing a job title is harder than actually becoming whatever it is we became.

Anyone using the term professional is usually doing it because they're selling something or other. I've made my living doing this for a fair few years but wouldn't ever dream of calling myself a 'pro' or 'professional' trader. The thought of referring to myself as a pro trader just makes me cringe. Anyone asks I usually say I make a living gambling, explaining sports trading to the uninitiated is a nightmare at the best of times and best avoided.

Because it's still taboo that any lay about can make money from betting or trading. My wife is one of them 😂

Being a professional trader is similar to being a professional footballer. Your skill defines the level you’re playing at & the money you earn. There are traders that make 20k a year & ones that make 20k a week. Tom Pope is no less a professional than Ronaldo but by god they’re a world apart in ability and earnings.

I must be a professional trader because at the top of my screen it says Bet Angel - Professional v1.58.0

That's close enough for me :D :D

Why do people have private jets? Just call it a jet - nobody has a private car. :)

This job title malarkey is a pain in the ass. It's OK making stuff up in the pub but I've just spent 5mins explaining my 'job' to my solicitor only to be told it doesn't matter anyway its just for their files. So the business card reads..... "hmrc call it gambling but its just buying and selling risk like you do with shares but because I'm not working for a big company it doesn't even count as a proper job"

A friend of mine likes winding me up in social situations by getting people to ask me what I do for a living as it's really unsual. So once I told everybody I was a porn star.
