Agreed tha value lies in finding when a runner has been over backed or over layed.

I'm at a loss to see why they would stop you. For you to get matched, someone must have a back, in-play. If you don't lay and match their bet, then BF/BD don't make any commission.

And as Jay says, remember that the high drifters hurt your bank when they suddenly come back into play. And the drifters that still have quite low odds, are event more likely to come back into play.

Quick look at my stats, and there have been 371 horses trading at over 100, that went on to win. That's the sort of thing that makes laying drifters so hard.

Thanks for the input lads! :D

I understand your concerns, I'm going to give it a go and use small stakes... 50p on betdaq I believe which would give me a liability of around 20-45 quid, not bad if it goes tits up.

I'll get back to you with my results.

Again thanks for the help lads

If your watching the race and you are really good at predicting when a horse has no chance of winning thats an edge for me, give it a go and see how good you are good luck.

Fastexit, pretty much everyone has advised not doing it. Especially using betdaq you are only going to get matched by taking odds that are well out of value.

Do the opposite...

Thats a good point, you would have to look ahead and try and get value on the lay bet.

If this post still gets read, try greeing up for gods sake. Small profit instead of huge loss. Dont wait for a drifter to continue drifting, green up and get out.

A perilous pastime Fast Exit.
I had a couple of days of trying this. It all looked so easy until on Friday when Arrowzone drifted to 25 from 8's. Luckily only two pound stakes involved.

I lost a lot of money doing this when two well clear horses fell at the last.

About 3k - and it was my birthday.

Its too easy for a long time, then wham. Never do it now.

Its an expensive passtime
This last race is a good illustration...Vaux traded at 1.06 (I was matched at 1.12)...not sure what the winner (cuppacoffee) traded at, but if you were laying it... :o
