You can picture it now, at the next election there'll be a whole list of "achievements" and all with lashings of exploiting people's lack of understanding about numbers. A billion is less than £20 a head, and a billion a year is <50p a week per head.... but we know that cos we're all numerate. But a political billion is nice simple "huge amount ".
A bottle of wine (and perhaps a mini cheese selection) sent to every household in the country would cost less than a billion.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Sat Jun 11, 2022 8:50 pmYou can picture it now, at the next election there'll be a whole list of "achievements" and all with lashings of exploiting people's lack of understanding about numbers. Under Betfair's new rules, the penny shaver problem hasn't gone entirely. It shouldn't be possible to lay a selection for a penny with nothing to lose!

Same reason they stand in a puddle when it's raining?
But it's always pies and fags that's the target, never alcohol which causes more problems, expense and policing hours than every other issue put together. And even daytime TV promotes alcohol despite an advert ban, they're often taking about getting drunk and "bladdered" on Packed Lunch and every program makes 'a glass of wine' at 6pm everyday sound like normal behaviour. People are afraid to walk past pubs round here when a football team loses not because fat birds like cake.
It would normally be quite shocking to hear the leader of a democracy claim people are wrong to challenge his decisions in court, and that lawyers are wrong to do their job and represent people with valid issues. But not when his name's Johnson!
£3.25 for that bottle of balsamic vinegar, I could have bought the same size bottle from Aldi for £1.39!Derek27 wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 4:21 amPurchased all the ingredients for a steak recipe. £5.50 for the rib-eyed steak. £3.25 for a bottle of balsamic vinegar, even though I only need a "splash" of it. £1.70 for a pack of muscovado sugar, even though I only need a level teaspoon and probably won't need any more for the rest of my natural life. It would have been cheaper to visit a steakhouse and have it cooked for me!

Whenever I'm talking to somebody over the phone and the line inexplicably gets cut, first there's the dilemma of, shall I call back? Will he be calling me back? Will he be waiting for me to call back?
Eventually when we're reconnected the first question is always the same: "What happened there?"
How the fuck would I know?? I'm just on the other end of the line!!
