I know you're asking Jim, but as it's half time I'll give you the answer. Same as any other legal claim, take them to court and allow them to appear and defend themselves. At least the woman who wasn't even in debt would be protected, as would others in genuine difficulty.
Cue floods of people abusing a long and costly court process, when they could just open their front door?
Just wait until Betfair claim you own them a grand. It would be a costly court process but I trust you'll just open your chequebook.

Better still, scrap the County Court and give people the legal right to break into any home where they believe the householder owes them money. :)
I wouldn't be able to. The courts will be too busy dealing with all the morons forcing their power company to court because they read on social media it was a clever thing to do.

Anyone who goes to court is a moron? Anyone who doesn't hand over money to anyone who asks is a moron?

It's fairly obvious James that if you were overcharged by your energy supplier over a misread meter you would challenge the bill, but it seems everybody else in the world is a moron and should simply pay up and not go to court.

Wow, could you be any more condescending?

I suggest you be prepared to accept that sometimes others may not share your opinions.

Oh no eggs are dangerous again. Where is Edwina Curry when you need her?

Joking aside salmonella is no joke. Know someone (very fit) that was hospitalised in Switzerland for 3 months before returning to the UK.

I've just remembered. About 30 years ago I was overcharged by British Gas. They ignored all my letters and were threatening to take me to court if I didn't pay. I went to the Citizens Advice Bureau and was told I was about the 20th person that week who was overcharged by BG. She simply made a quick phone call and they dropped me from the prosecution list.

I think I did the right thing, but I take your point. You're entitled to have a different opinion and who am I to say it's wrong. Maybe I am a moron and should have just overpaid and invited them to put me on a card meter. :)

Apparently they don't have the military technology to bring down balloons. Bullets just cause slow punctures that will take days. At 60,000 feet, I'd suggest a low-yield nuclear missile detonated near it should melt it down. Otherwise North Korea will know they can float their nuclear arsenal into Europe and USA on balloons. :)
The tinfoil companies thank you for your business

90% of our eggs are pasteurised. The odds are in your favour.
Actually, my last 2 portions of mushrooms on toast had, in one case a devastating event at around 2am, and the other was stomach cramps all day. I now fear mushrooms!
Perhaps washing mushrooms does make sense after all.

Last week I was just ten minutes late for a GP appointment and I had to rebook. Not only do they demand that you turn up, they now expect you to be on time!

Today I was so focused on being punctual that by the time I arrived I forgot what I was there for.

The important thing was that it was your aim to be on time. But due to Covid, the war, but not Brexit, difficult decisions had to be made. They have to understand that. You're not a magic time tree.

I'm just impressed that you have managed to get appointments, missed them and still are able to get another.
Where I am. phoning for an appontment is pointless. You redial until 10am then you get through and are told there are no appointments and they don't prebook, so you basically have to crawl down to the surgery (which is only open a few days a week, the alternative is 2 miles away via a circuitous bus journey) and hope a doctor may be available before you keel over.
