I've been talking to him longer than you have and I'm pretty sure he's not. There's no way of knowing as he generally ignores questions but he doesn't appear to believe that the virus exists, or if it does it's no worse than flu and the death toll is not significantly greater than usual.
Coronavirus - A pale horse,4 men and ....beer
You need to stop comparing Covid-19 to the flu and compare it to pneumonia. What you're talking about is irrelevant because Covid-19 wasn't here.SweetLyrics wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 10:53 amNot relevant. We are talking about whether restrictions work (and whether restrictions deliver added benefit beyond a particular point).
And yes, in a pub full of people, you are more likely to catch a virus than if you stay at home. But a year ago, I didn't let the possibility of catching the flu (and possibly spreading it) affect my decision to go to the pub and sink down a cold one or two.
Living your whole life in a bubble is existence, not living - you have to accept a degree of risk.
I've had enough of this for now - I'm getting back to trading.

It's a question of degree.
Both diseases are contagious and can kill.
At what point do you decide a disease is serious enough to shut down society?
However you slice it and dice it, it boils down to subjective judgement.

A point well before 80,000 extra deaths. The flu's been around for centuries and we have no choice but to put up with it, but this is a virus that may or may not become permanent. The problem is further compounded by the fact that it affects mainly elderly people and too many young people don't GAF about spreading it as long as they can keep going out.SweetLyrics wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:01 amIt's a question of degree.

I would say 39,999 deaths is absolutely fine, carry on socialising. 40,000 deaths, shut the flipping country down!!SweetLyrics wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:50 amSo how many deaths are acceptable (bearing mind mind that many thousands of people die of the flu each year)?
You're grossly oversimplifying things Jeff!

Are you that rude in real life, or are you quite meek and mild in person?TraderFred wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 10:51 am“ Look around the poker table, if you can’t see the Sucker.... then Jeff must have decided to sit somewhere else “.

Rude? I consider myself to be well mannered and polite, Jeff. It is you with the potty mouth and fiery temper.
Are you like that in real life? If somebody at the dinner table says something that you don’t agree with, do you frogmarch them into the hallway, out of the earshot of other guests, and start shouting and swearing at them?

Let's get this straight. It's 'well mannered and polite' to call someone a serial loser, with zero provocation?TraderFred wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 12:47 pmRude? I consider myself to be well mannered and polite, Jeff. It is you with the potty mouth and fiery temper.
Is that your honest position?
No - if someone acted the way you did in the pub, I'd say to them what I said to you - 'You're bang out of order. Who the f*** do you think you are?' - then and there. No need to frogmarch anyone anywhere. But I would call out their rudeness. Should I just ignore their bullying behaviour?TraderFred wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 12:47 pmAre you like that in real life? I didn't want to get drawn back into this thread but I agree with Jeff, it's like throwing the first punch then complaining when you get one back.SweetLyrics wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 12:53 pmLet's get this straight. I’ve already said I was wrong about the serial loser thing. I have no idea who you are, I just see your name mentioned loads on this forum, and I think even on this thread somebody said that you weren’t a very good trader. I took those comments literally, I didnt realise they were sarcastic.
Around the time I was debating with Alex. Alex himself is either on a wind up, or is bat shit crazy, I’m not sure which . And he is always on the other thread saying about how long he has been trading without really seeing any results.
So when you came along and started defending his views, I just found it funny, and made the (obviously wrong) correlation between losing at trading and believing conspiracy theories.
Judging by your reaction, I now know what I’ve read about you on the forum isn’t true/ fake news/ conspiracy/ whatever you want to call it.
I certainly won’t be believing anything I read on the internet again, and I apologise for repeating and reposting the comments without checking the content or indeed the context in which they were made first. That is how rumours start to spread, and I hold my hands up for that.

Ah, Spreadbetting! What a pleasant surprise.
I see you are statesman like as ever!

Would you still think that if I showed you proof that Joe Biden is the same person as a certain dictator from WW2?TraderFred wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 1:24 pmAlex himself is either on a wind up, or is bat shit crazy, I’m not sure which .
I'm not sure if he was cryogenically frozen or just ate well for the last 75 years, all I know is he rigged the election and placed a £48 million bet on himself near the end.
I would be careful in taking the microchip vaccine because I'm sure he is working with Bill Gates to download the minds of Betfair traders so they can make money together on pre-off markets by stealing their edge and then selling it as a video pack
