I envy you manual guys who can just play what you see rather than having to throwing your whole idea in the bin and starting again.
I was involved in a family business until 2008 when the exchange rate between the Euro and Pound suddenly went from 1.4 to 1 to near enough 1 to 1 and that meant the business was no longer viable, so I began 'bet running' (at shops) for my brother-in-law who got in from the start of BF and specialised in certain markets.

I'd take and pay for a fixed %age of all the bets I placed for him and get commission on his share of every winning betting slip - I was busy doing this (and betting/trading myself) for 5 years from 2008 through 2012 at the end of which he set up a business venture of his own. I've never had a non-profitable year (always won 5 or 6 figures though not yet 7) and was lucky to have an expert to initially guide and learn from. He started betting again from 2015 and I still place bets for him on certain events when the shops are open. I continued betting/trading throughout.

I've always been a manual trader and I think the problem with automation is that you're not around to see what happens and learn the lessons which you are when trading manually, but profit is profit so who cares about learning lessons when you win with automation!

Most of my trading is now in-play and there's little I won't touch, though time is often a factor as to what I can get involved with - if I had 100 hours per day I'd still need a few more hours!

A trait of mine is that no win is ever enough be it 3, 4 or 5 figures, so I always strive to work harder, do better and win more.

Good luck to everyone who partakes in this lifestyle as it's not for everyone! :)

Another way to give some credibility would be to provide the results of people that they taught to trade with a case study and picture of them with the money they have made withdrawn from the bank and laid out on a table as proof.

For example, this trading student successfully executed the lay-the-draw-and-set-a-3-tick-offset-and-then-green-up-system and here's his results after week 5

Interesting backstory Tuco.

Watching my automation is about the worst thing I can do, it just leads to being swayed by all the psychological issues like recentism and imagining patterns, and you fail to see that at 4am it was making some great choices a tweak would undo.

I don't actually have any visual feedback at all when it runs live, I do my bot training in the simulator and with multiple strategies on the same markets, doing hundreds of selections a day, it wouldn't even be possible to learn anything by watching it. Although I do watch the bets on BA sometimes to see what it's doing because it's mesmerising....and I usually see something horrible at some point but you have to take the rough with the smooth.

I'm not a fan of the methodology whereby you refine by reducing losers anyway, I find it's easier to add an extra penny to everything than it is to stop the 10p loss on every 10th trade because that often costs you ½p on all the good ones as well. Zero filters and zero special cases helps strategy longevity too imo because there's fewer market changes that could affect you, and when they're so hard to find you want them to be keepers.

Is this enough?
All I need now is for Yugoslavia to reform and Greece to go back to the Drachma. Holidays were so much better when it was funny money instead of all being Euros, not having a clue what things were costing made you relax more somehow.

The funniest thing about those shows is that they're in a district called Patpong. So you go and see the Patpong Ping Pong in a tuktuk. :)

We had part of our honeymoon near there and the 'performer' wrote my wife's name on a napkin......didn't hold the pen in her hand  And then round off the show with little paper aeroplanes shot out of a hidden tube, you don't get that on Britain's Got Talent.

But good to hear something genuine like that, thanks for sharing Tuco.

The fact you can build your own lifestyle is the main draw for me, how unique is that??

I value freedom more at this stage and find it difficult not to enjoy it, but I suspect that may change when I get into my 40s :) I hope not!

Perhaps a button to vote a poster is taking the thread off-topic. :D

You see Derek, this is why we can't have anything nice. Off-topic is the new on-topic.

And don't even get me started on buttons, people love pushing the wrong ones and then act surprised when it leads to bickering!

Sounds very romantic, Shaun. Like something out of a Hugh Grant movie.

I was in PatPong as an 18 year old in April 1986 on a six-week tour of South-East Asia - 2 weeks in Thailand, 2 weeks in Hong Kong a week in Taiwan and finally a week in Japan.

There was a club in PatPong called the Limelight Express Club and a lovely girl (I think it was a girl) called Milo wanted me to take her home to the UK - sadly I had to explain I wouldn't be going back to the UK for another 5 weeks!

'Thailand's Got Talent' would be a ratings hit

I've always worked for myself and would not have it any other way - I'm about to go outside and pressurewash my car...because I can :)
