This is fascinating! Who / what is the racing manager and what / how do they influence the market?
(I obviously know nothing about uk greyhounds!)

At the greyhound tracks a racing manager is essentially the private handicapper that puts a race card on for each meeting. They have to try and create a race that gives each runner a fair chance of a clear run and are fairly equally matched. Easier said than done.

The trials they run help the RM seed each runner, railer, middle, wide runner. They then create a database of runners that can run at the track. The RM is the human element in the process, so that's where we can pit our wits against them and take a view. If there's a rick in the race, others may spot it too and act accordingly. Sometimes you can see one given a chance, maybe an older runner that has served the track well.

Their role is not easy because they have to put on a card that has normal A Grade races, then sprints. staying races, sometime handicap races and even hurdle races.
Thanks very much! I dont think that exists in AU? I'm pretty sure the trap draw is random.
Ah, maybe thats true in the AU. Had a quick look at the NSW .pdf

https://www.grnsw.com.au/policies/racin ... ruary-2021

It outlines their grading policy. Maybe they then adopt the random draw after seeding the runner's running style.

I need to take a look at the aussie dogs a bit more, could be some neat opportunities by the looks of it!

Shaun took Goat under his wing and turned him from a complete novice into a fully competent profitable automated trader, in under a year.

Whilst the Goats persistence, stubbornness, hard work and determination to succeed should rightly be admired, I think the majority of the credit should go to Shaun.
Majority Shaun yes, but I would add since these people know it, that there are 4 other private contributors that helped me, 1 whom I met in person.

Fair enough. I just go by what I read on here, I’m always getting the wrong end of the stick, I usually don’t even get the right stick!

I just felt, that Shaun felt, that he wasn’t getting enough credit for your success.

Can confirm that it's a thankless task trying to help people most of the time, but as GOAT wrote just last week, the words of advice just dont mean much a lot of the time, because there's a wisdom/experience deficit for a long time, and if you dont know then you dont know. And then you cross a threshold and look back at all the previous advice and you can see it through a new prism where it all makes a lot more sense.

Thanks Anbell, that's written way better than I could

You literally wrote the same thing last week. I can't see it in the GOAT mega-thread so must have been elsewhere.

I've sent you some advice of my own in the last year, and it's frustrating when it doesnt get 'heard' but that's just life. You've done a great job over the last year building up your mentor base despite all the inevitable frustrations on both sides.

The mentor base is a good point, i've literally had loads of DMs, from countless people, the number of times my inbox has got full and needed to be trimmed is judgement to that...!
That's the thing about talking a lot and journelling what i've done, it's made people comment, both publicly and privately.

Thank you all for the replies, I will go over them properly later. I was just taking a breather!
I think with trying to look at it in all different angles I've got myself muddled.

I think it breaks down to a couple of things.

Your O.P. mentioned automation is the main area interest. B.A can offer that, but still needs testing in the same way Shaun/Goat data driven approach does as well. If you have any sort of coding background, then any advice from their area of expertise is golden. If B.A spikes your interest, then Dallas seems to be ever present with guidance on different rules/conditions once you've made the effort to test a few things out. I had a bot that was doing ok for a while then results dropped off, I think mainly due lack of liquidity in some of the markets.

Most other stuff is the more conventional data route and is more specialised and covers less volume of races. I've turned things around by focussing on certain tracks/grades, everyone has their own way of doing things, you'll find a way for sure.

Re: the AU boxing system, it's totally random, the running style of the greyhound is not considered in any way.

You'll often get railers in box 8 (we have a maximum of 8 starters here) that take out most of the field as they try to get across. Likewise you'll get wide runners in box 1 that do the reverse. Remembering that the bunny goes along the inside rail here.

There are a lot of greyhound specialists here and they are REALLY good. Tough market to enter from a value betting perspective.
