Jeff Beck RIP
I came to Jeff Beck quite late. Someone that struck me as emersed in the art of being a guitarist.
Could make a guitar howl like a wolf and scream like a banshee and then mew like a kitten.
So that's Wilko Johnson and Jeff Beck gone.
Are there any great players out there now? Nuno Bettencourt springs to mind.
I actually never liked the "guitarist virtuoso" concept. Too intrusive for a band, but some are able to transcend that format but yet still part of the ensemble.
Hendrix has a lot to answer for.
