....but no, it's easier to use crab mentality on someone who is doing well and also enjoys the process.

Well, I think basic jealousy if just another one of those instinctual things that you have to rise above to get anywhere yourself really
Top athletes get nothing but admiration in comparison, but I suppose physical feats are easier to observe and understand than intellectual accomplishments
Since top athletes are usually in peak physical condition they are synonymous with hard work and determination, which I guess makes it less personal or threatening for the average couch potato?

I was confronted by that concept by a colleague that was questioning my criticism of our team leader.wearthefoxhat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:29 amI think the article should have linked access to the Free to use Bet Angel academy and the plethora of Free advice and guidance You-tube videos. I simply said "tell me 3 good things he's done in the last year".
I was confronted with silence from someone I had huge respect for.
Was I a crab? Or was was my team leader a twat?

Well, at least I’m no longer obsessing over the “odds plummeted” gaffe. All I can think about is buckets of crabs.

Indeed. There is a vast difference between a work environment where everyone "pulling in the same direction" (yuk, but it describes a situation) and one where people are self-centered and slacking. Grovelling is not the same as efficiency.wearthefoxhat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 4:42 pmgreenmark wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 11:26 amI was confronted by that concept by a colleague that was questioning my criticism of our team leader.wearthefoxhat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:29 amI think the article should have linked access to the Free to use Bet Angel academy and the plethora of Free advice and guidance You-tube videos. I'm not sure any interview I've done is without error. I did say Hamilton for the big win and Chelmsford for the big loss. Obviously I've made well over £1m on Racing, but as correctly said, I don't want people entering the game thinking they can replicate what I've done, so that's fair enough.Lynskey888 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 2:15 pmWell, at least I’m no longer obsessing over the “odds plummeted” gaffe. But unless you are offered the chance to proofread, which isn't practical, little errors will creep in.
Overall I think the balance is right and people who know the business will understand.

Sadly this quote appears to apply to the naysayers.
“It’s common to think that people admire you for your success, but what you might actually be fostering is envy, which will come back to haunt you.”
100%. I find that envy, green eyes, whatever we call it has a huge bias on how we disseminate our perception of success. for me, it literally is down to "is my trajectory heading in a +ve direction". those who know me on here know that i'm no longer active on BF, but am active in other spheres that have parallel nuances. in short - the universe of perceived success is optional
