Hi, could any of the forum user's give me some advice on their experiance with using the 49 inch Ultra wide screen for trading. Does the 32.9 ratio affect any of the viewing abilities of Betangel.

One of the main reasons is I would to have extra runners. I can only get have 6 dogs with the settings I like on my 32inch. I want the full eight for the Aussie dogs.

I was thinking about running two versions at the same time side by side as a solution.

size doesnt really matter , you can have a 49 inch monitor and a 32 inch monitor with the same resolution both of them will show exactly the same image in (terms of size), in your case you need a higher resolution to fit more windows and pop up ladders.
higher resolution shows more real estate

you cant minimize ladder setup, slimming or removing columns you dont need? monitor resolution maxed?

i use a 40 inch monitor with 4k resolution but pixel density is not high enough so stuff gets too big, be mindful about that before getting a 49 inch and also graphics card needs to be exponentially better for higher resolutions

my advice to you is to get 2 extra monitors and used them as a portrait mode on the left and right side of your main screen ,
if you want to go one step further you can get an extra 32 inch monitor on top of your main monitor if you already have a 32 inch 4k monitor as your main screen this will be an ideal set up

I've been drooling over the Samsung 49" Oled -feel like you lot have been watching over my shoulder :P .
'Been trying to figure out how to stack it within my current 3 screen setup :? -which I couldn't figure out given the USB/HDMI/VGA port and space complexities of my man cave config  :ugeek: . Wifey offered to buy me a new grunty gaming system + independently cooled graphics card-which should solve the problem nicely :P

PS: Impressive rig there george

Thanks for all the advice. I have been using a 1080p. Shout out to the low resolution police. So in theory if I was to purchase a 1440p ultra wide 35 or 38 inch screen or a 4k. I would have the extra room to fit the ladders in.

I have tried a dual column config Rik. I seem to focus on the top columns to much and, also didnt like not being able to see the money stacked at higher and lower prices.

I aslo wanted to learn to code in future. I think 2 monitors, a 34in 4k for trading and a 35in ultrawide 1440p for coding etc will be a better all round option for around the same price.

Personally I would NEVER go for a 49" single monitor - if it fails you're busted, whereas with multiple monitors you're still in the game if one fails.

Secondly if using 4k ultra high resolution ultra high contrast for 12+ hours a day, you'll be as good as blind within a month.

I just use 4 x 24" ultra fast monitors and 4 x TV's.

how are you busted if a monitor fails? order a new one?
just set the contrast and resolution to what suits you/your eyes, how does it matter if its 4k or not, doesnt make sense

...if your sole monitor fails, how do you continue to trade until you manage to get a replacement which at the earliest would be the following day?

If it fails during an important event it could be very costly, but you carry on and get one if you like.

keep going on your laptop or connect an old screen i guess
how often did your monitor malfunction in the last 20 years?

...not even once ;) (though I do change my monitors every 18-24 months or so)

I guess my computing background has taught me 'prevention is better than cure', so I have a lot of duplicity for such eventualities...most likely too much!

If I felt a 49" screen was worth the investment (as they're not cheap) and better than what I already have, I'd get three in a heartbeat - two to use and one as a spare ;)

I'm not so sure a gazillion monitors is a good idea or healthy...

I had 8 monitors at one stage. 3 x 1080p 24" and 5 x 14" lower res ones USB ones. After a year or so of that I started to realise they made me feel anxious, I had things open that I should have been finished with, but would revisit in my mind every time I saw it... Focus is pretty important IMO to let your subconscious/short term memory deal deal with things, and lots of screens doesn't really help with that...

Everyone is different, and doing different behaviours, but I have changed my habits to close down browser windows, tabs etc....read it, be done with it....

There's a book around called the Shallows, that talks about similar things and the problem with the internet changing your brain...it's interesting and IMO worth reading...probably lots of books around like that I guess...
