Bank of England raise interest rates by 0.75 points to 3%

Biggest single increase since 1989

BoE warn UK is facing longest recession in 100 years
call me a simpleton, but was this likely to have happened anyway (sooner or later), despite truss's senseless meddling??
Yes I think a recession was inevitable irrespective of Trussenomics, although that certainly hasnt helped.
Ukraine, inflation, Brexit are all factors also

Another point of view being the lady running a food bank believing that £600 a month on energy is in anyway realistic. How can someone paying that for energy be going to a food bank? Perhaps I'm mad or the world is.

Someone paying that much for energy may not have enough left for food.

Someone paying that much for energy should sell their house and buy something more suited to their income. £600 a month??? FFS.

Think of all those office workers who elected to work from home now looking at the 'office' thermometer and watch it plummet below 16C and have noone to complain to nor can they 'go home'.

Can't find a reference, other than my faulty ears and faulty memory. So I will have to withdraw my remark.

UK GDP fell 0.2% between July and September, ending five consecutive quarters of growth, the Office for National Statistics said on Friday.
The United Kingdom is the only G7 economy to have contracted in the third quarter and is now 0.4% smaller than it was at the end of 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic began, according to the ONS.
