Panic buying

Trading is often about how to take the appropriate risk without exposing yourself to very human flaws.

Another great example of why the wisdom of the crowds is very overrated!

I can't help but laugh at them, what a way to spend a Saturday!

Even seen an image of some idiot filling about 6 jerry cans behind his car

News media are to blame for all this, if they never spent Thursday reporting how a staggering total of 10 of 1200 of BP stations had to close for a few days know one would be none the wiser

Exactly this!

Manufactured panic but ultimately it just goes to show how utterly selfish people are.

The snowball effect is also at play here too. People who aren't actually panicking are watching those who are panicking and thinking that it would probably be a good idea to go and fill up before the stations run short.

Do we have ourselves a FOMO situation

Telling people NOT to panic is just reminding the rest to panic as well before stuff runs out :) I hate the media, as if we need daily reminders that man is idiot.

Fear and panic because of what exactly? It's like paying interest on a debt you may not even owe!!!

That being said, I think I still have leftover toilet paper from the first Covid wave.

It's not the words "don't panic" that caused panic; it's the pathological liar who says there's no need to panic. :)

Apparently there's going to be a movie made about it starring Johnny Depp

The world we live in now seems so selfish, people don't seem to care about others.
We also dont see the consequences of our selfish actions, we demand deliveries the same day now, without thinking how that is achieved and the impact on the environment. We demand cheaper goods, not thinking why they are cheap, made by cruelly treated workers in far off countries. We demand cheap turkeys for Christmas, not thinking how that is achieved, by poorly paid and poorly treat imported workers. We demand new goods all the time, not thinking of the waste and impact, and the poorly treated lorry drivers that have to ship it all

Another pithy (less than) one-liner that captures the issue in a moment. Fabulous! :-)
