I don't specifically understand how they can block them as the IP's are unrelated to any specific service?

IP's are allocated in blocks that you can look up on "whois" - at the highest level they can be easily used to block specific countries and you can mostly get down to ISP or even lower sometimes depending on registration of the addresses.

Not sure where BA servers are located but that may have something to do with it.

It's got to be something other than the IP's because even if you mask that it still doesn't work. Must be a solution.

i know that back in my previous life as a matched bettor, various bookies blocked VPN's as they were able to identify the fact that they were not a normal IP (or host).

I presume that BET365 actually have some sort of policy at play whereby they identify VPS hosts and apply restricted access there. after all, you could rent a UK VPS from New Zealand, therefore Bet365 have no way to know in reality who their customer is.

just a hunch.

Intrigued, I did a Google search and came up with this article https://www.reviewsfire.com/vpn/bet365- ... -with-vpn/ dated 17th March which talks about VPN blocking at Bet365

VPN's are relatively easy to block as they have to use static IP's and databases of the most common VPN's are well known.

But there is obviously something else they are doing, maybe at an OS level. I'll do some work on it and find a solution. But any suggestions or pointers will be looked at.

I vaguely remember an article about something called IESnare being triggered which shares your data back I believe to somewhere for counter fraud measures (I could well be speaking out of my derriere about this).
