I've trekked through Bear country many times and it does make you twitchy. I can't carry a gun of course, but arm myself with various bits of defence equipment. Only come face to face with a bear once and despite all the warnings, I did take a photo as I thought nobody would ever believe me.

Not sure I would ever camp near a salmon stream though.

But of course nobody really knows and the recording of the attack has never been released to the public. Not that I would want to listen too it.
Me neither. Werner Herzog said in the doc that he made about it that he had the sound recording of the attack but chose not to put it in the movie, I think he played the recording up to a point though.

He seemed like a gentle soul, definitely misguided though.

I'd much rather see the likes of Joe Exotic been torn apart than that poor guy.
I would. ;)

A non US citizen cannot purchase a firearm but can be in possession of one if they have a valid state hunting license. Doesn’t matter if you have no plans on hunting with it. Just means you won’t go to prison for 10 years.

When I visit friends over there and we go camping in the wilderness I borrow one of there firearms and renew my non resident state hunting license.

Last time I went didn’t see any bears but hearing wolves howling close to our camp had me reaching for my borrowed .44 magnum revolver.

Although I must confess that offtopic topics are the topics that I find most interesting. I am starting to suspect that Derek feels the same way.
