And as she's an anti-monarchist the meeting at Balmoral could be.... er frosty. Although Our Queer Old Dean will handle it impeccably, I'm sure.
Hasn't she said she is now in favour of the monarchy and her comments when a LD activist where just her views when she was younger which see now changed?
As I said the conversation with Her Majesty will be interesting. :-)
"So you wanted to get rid of me and my legacy and the future of my family - explain".
That would be easy enough to explain. "I've been voted in and you haven't". :)

Slam dunk!!

It's like being mauled by a dead sheep.
I swear Vince Cable was the most convincing of LibDem leaders. He was ranting about the credit crunch before it happened and seemed the most practical about the crap that has been surrounding us.
If only we could ditch idealogy the LibDems would romp to power.
And then screw it up, just like the Tories and Labour.
They call for one every week, seems to be there go to line with nothing else to say and just to let people know they are still here

What's funny is they've spent the last 6 weeks complaining the Torys haven't made any decisions and left people scared of how they'll pay there bills this winter and now want to shut down parliament for another 8 weeks or so for a GE
Surely 8 weeks of chaos is better than 2 years of it. :)
That's assuming we don't end up with a hung parliament
and given the outcry for govt. support all over the country right now for any MP/party to try and say to people just hang fire pay your bills the best you can while we go around the country campaigning and hopefully by mid Nov we 'might' have another govt who can do things a differently but if not we'll have a few weeks of chaotic Brexit like parliament while we arguing among ourselves then maybe by Dec someone can announce something that might help

I just don't see how there would be any wide spread appetite among the electorate to pause things for another 8 weeks to have a GE now

I've just seen footage of Truss giving a speech for the LibDems as a student, she sounded like a 10-year-old.

Trust me, you won't know the difference between a hung parliament/ungoverned nation and a Tory government. :D

But Truss hasn't made those sacrifices either. In fact she has betrayed her poltical instincts to gain power. Perhaps the Tory party are more wary of her than we think. The problem for the rest of us is we have a governing party in disarray while we have the worst scenario ofr generations.

It wont be 2 years.

If the governments across Europe are going to cap energy prices then its going to cost a serious amount of money.

Example: UK
- Cap at £2,000 per domestic household, assume the whole sale market price rises to £6,000 in January. That means we would need to find £4,000 x 18 million = £72,000,000,000. And that doesn't take into account businesses, which would be another £132,000,000,000. Then what happens in April 2023, July 2023, October 2023. Add on strikes, inflation plus everyone (that still has a job) wants 15% pay increase.

Now multiple that by France, Germany, Italy, Spain and every other EU country. Someone said it already on here, Putin did have an ace up his sleeve.

For me at least, take the risk, use all that money and just get rid of him. Probably cheaper in the long run.

Truss is going to deliver on the economy, deliver on the cost of living, and deliver babies on the NHS.

The sums dont add up, come February 2023 eveyone will realise that capping engergy costs is not sustainable. There wont be any money left for anything. And people can forget about the NHS, it will just crumble into the abyss.

UK PLC is still creditworthy. £2.3 trillion is peanuts against post WW2 debt. Not good I grant you, but a guideline for what we can do if we pull together.

The big difference back then was that we borrowed from USA and Canada at a fixed rate of 2% for the entire life of the loans. International Interest lending rates are set to rocket. We no longer part of the EU so can't borrow from the European Central Bank at 0%, witch other EU members will be able too.

Forecast rain has foiled Truss's speech outside No. 10 tomorrow. :D
