Bernard Jenkin: The guidance does not say you can have a thank you party.
There were lots of people leaving critical organisations and a leaving do for everyone else around the country was not acceptable under the guidelines or the rules so why was it acceptable and necessary for work purposes in No.10?
UK General Election 2024 (or 25)
So a Tory majority govt is going to vote to suspend him? We shall see but I would be staggered if that occured.
This hearing was a bit like Johnson being mauled by a dead sheep.
But at least they did niggle him a bit. His tone changed a couple of times, but then he was fed questions to make him look good. But that's the nature of the make-up of the commitee, I guess.
I'm watching a recording and I'm at 15:15. But he's getting a good grilling by one of his own. I think the Tories would like shot of the bumbling buffoon now, completely humiliated and will never have an ounce of credibility.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 5:58 pmSo a Tory majority govt is going to vote to suspend him? I disagree they were appearing brutal but he was prepared. The onslaught happened at the end of the hearing. But it concluded with a bit of a cuddle. "Thankyou for your time". So British and polite for a total ****.Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 6:04 pmI'm watching a recording and I'm at 15:15. But he's getting a good grilling by one of his own. I'm on 15:42 and I've never seen the buffoon looking so unhappy and under pressure.
Can anyone explain why the BBC is highlighting the tax Sunak has paid? They don't appear to be suggesting any wrongdoing. So what it is the point? Is this just pure crab envy? Someone doing better than you, so you must try to drag them down. I don't care how much he earns. If he pays his taxes, fine. I care more about his policies.

Some people believe a PM should not be rich.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 10:50 pmCan anyone explain why the BBC is highlighting the tax Sunak has paid? But you have to define what rich is as Starmer is not exactly poor given where his house is in London.
