Adam Heathcote
Welcome back big fellow. Hope your health has improved.
Miss your analysis - hope you finally get that Grand National winner. (And of course that you get the triple at 1.01).

I've tried to reach out to Adam in recently years to see how he is doing but got no response. I was saddened today to learn that he is not well.
I've reached out to Adam's brother to get in touch personally, and will report back.
In the meantime you can hear about his plight here. You wouldn't wish it on anybody: -

That’s very tragic news. Adam was the one who got me started on BF many moons ago.Euler wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 2:27 pmI've tried to reach out to Adam in recently years to see how he is doing but got no response. I was saddened today to learn that he is not well.

Oh man, that's so sad. He was so inspirational back in the day, I read his blog as intensely as I read Peters back then trying to get nuggets of information on pre-off horse trading. I can only imagine how many people started trading because of Adam at that time. I hope things take a turn for the better for him as it sounds horrendous what he's going through.

Very sad news.
Heard about him around 2009 and like many older traders around here read his blog. At the time it was very inspirational to say the least.

No doubt that he quit after this 60% premium charge. Also looks like volumes was much much bigger. Probobly imposible to achive in todays markets conditions?

I contacted Peter earlier this week and gave him the sad news about Adam. I had learned of his illness, and I felt awful reading about his struggles; I cried with sadness. Adam and I worked together on a few trading projects; some were successful but one did cost us a lot of money. It all seems inconsequential now.
I traded alongside him at Southwell Racecourse and we decided to give any profit to the Injured Jockey Fund. I can't remember all of the figures but in one race I made about £80 and Adam had thrashed me; he repeated that in almost every market that afternoon. He was fearless, and that was probably his biggest edge over other traders, including me.
I have one phone call that sticks in my head. I had been out for a long walk and switched off my phone. When I switched the phone on, I had multiple messages from Adam. It was the day that PC was announced and Adam was not happy. That was the beginning of the end.
I pray that Adam can win his fight against this illness.

That sounds like a terrible thing to have to deal with, poor guy.
I was always curious as to why Adam stepped away from BF after having so much success. I know trading can be lonely, boring and stressful at times but on the face of it he had a very steady system returning a huge amount even with the introduction of the PC.
Wish him all the best

Think Adam stepped away to set up his own niche travel agency, kind of Wellness focused before it became a thing, guess he saw trading as a stepping stone and PC rushed forward any other plans. Sad to see what's happened to him and hope he manages to find some kind of cure if possible or at the very least something to manage the pain and make his life easier..BFDon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 3:58 pmThat sounds like a terrible thing to have to deal with, poor guy.

Makes you wonder about the other traders like Leon etc and what they're up to these days. PC will have finished it for many traders and current volumes on horse racing show, just that mental jump of going from 5% to 40%+ is a big step to get over for most of us.
Adam set up a travel agent called health and fitness travel.
Leon, became a landlord the last I heard.
I keep in touch with quite a few traders current and ex. Often decisions are based on very personal reasons. If you make a decent sum of money, people often have different ideas of what they want to do with it.
When I started I thought if I made £100k I'd use that to do something with. Start a new business etc. I just never stopped!
