It seems variable or local. I think the market before last had a long suspension.
Royal Ascot 2019
Just reviewing the data. I think this was quite barmy, but I managed to catch it. Not so on some of the others, I'd often give a chunk back.

Tote volumes up x7 according to CEO.... Will be interesting to see what happens if race has an asian runner (and whether arbs actually exist)...Derek27 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 1:27 pmThe fact that the price will crash in the last minute and there's no way of knowing how much dampens the idea of arbing opportunities.weemac wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 12:18 pmAccording to the article, the world pool will increase the stability of Tote odds which will assist arbitrage between the Tote and Betfair. But in the next paragraph it states that high rollers and syndicates will be attracted by such stability. Do they imagine that somehow these big players will leave the easiest of money sitting on the table and not reduce/eliminate the arb opportunities?sionascaig wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 9:29 amAnd all change for the Ascot tote apparently...

"So, for the first time in this country, this week may offer real arbitrage opportunities that will further boost the World Pool. What does that mean in English? Simply, that if a horse is 5-1 in the Tote World Pool but only 3-1 in the general betting markets, it is a shot to nothing to back it via the World Pool and lay it with a betting exchange.
The danger of doing that in the past was that the Tote price could collapse just before the race. But with a bigger pool, that instability should cease. In addition, that stability will attract a whole range of players – high rollers and syndicates – who will take betting on the Tote seriously for the first time, and that could reap huge rewards for British racing."
