Is anyone seeing significantly increased volumes being matched in the Horse Racing inplay markets?

For example yesterday:

Total Traded Volume (Pre off and Inplay) = £11,285,811
Total Inplay Traded Volume = £4,490,798
% Total Inplay Traded Volume/Total Traded Volume = 39.8%

Had been previously around 20%, so definitely an increase if those figures continue.

Could be something to do with services like this one.

They are aligned with TPD (Total Performance Data)

i think moving into spring/summer encourages more IP trading also. maybe it's just daylight hours extending. also, i think that decent weather all plays a part too.

whatever the cause, it's a good thing as having 100's rather than 10's of ££'s available is a great thing

whats the relation with inplay trading and good weather?

was there disproportionally long races yesterday, they should have more matched in running relative to pre race.

That is the kind of thread title that I want to see when I come on this forum.

Great news - is that data consistent over a longer time frame?

i remember PW saying a while back that he was noticing a 'structural decline' in interest in jumps racing, wonder if that is borne out in this data also.

Rik has already pointed out, there was no flat racing yesterday.

Of course the percentage of inplay to pre off is going to be higher if all the races go on for longer as there is more time for more money to be matched.

Hi I'm still a trading newbie but where can you find info regarding the pre-off & inplay split?

The data we have here is too small a sample - we need to compare the 2021 jumps season to previous seasons to understand if there has actually been a shift.
