My firm had a skinner in the last and ended up losing another 12k to Bf today.

It is swings and roundabouts, but these festival meetings are v v lumpy.

There is still lots of money on-course, if you bet in the right areas. The firm acquired the rights to bet for the 5 days of Royal Ascot in the Royal enclosure for about 160k, about 6 yrs ago. Over the 5 days, you tend to pay 6k in expenses, and win 10k net.

Its debatable whether 10k a yr return is attractive for an asset that cost 160k, and might be lost, if Ascot becomes a housing estate - which I agree is a big price.

I always wonder what life hacks the royal enclosure punters have found that mere mortals haven't.

1st race - a punter had 1k ew a 8/1 chance that was 3rd in the stewards. He was gonna draw etc, but as the stewards took long, they priced up a flimpy show of 4/1 etc, and he had the 2600 on at 4/1, when it was 5/1 on the machine.

The prices offered are generally 15-20% 'wrong' - thou you have to build in profit margin to pay expenses/price of asset. Make no mistake, Royal Ascot is not a cheap place for bookies to bet at - u pay probably 3k to bet for the 5 days.

Ascot on Betfair £11.9m vs £9.5m last year. So tracking up about 25% this week. Betdaq double last year today. So Betdaq is roughly up 75% against last year so far.

Currently heading for a better year than last. Still two days to go!

Tuesday was good, Wednesday was better, but I couldn't find much yesterday.

94% BSP on the big 28 runner handicap. BSP looks completely broken to me?

Seems to happen more and more.

Do Betfair ever give an explanation for it?
