Silly question: Can you get charged for having over 5000 transactions per hour in Practice Mode?

No, because you're not doing any transactions with Betfair, just with BAs internal simulator. Betfair don't offer a practice mode so it's all handled at your end.

But data usage (requesting prices and market data) will be logged so don't overuse it.

You can use practice mode as much as needed
in streaming mode.

Its seems to be a bit of a grey area. Can Dallas or Euler confirm the data usage rules please?

As Shaun said in Practice mode transaction charges aren't applicable as you are not actually sending any bets to BF

Also transaction charges are not the same as data charges, BF did use to charge based on the number of calls made to their API, but that was removed several years ago when they switched to API-ng

But when using practice mode you are still fetching markets updates from there severs and therefore adding strain (although streaming adds far less than polling) so they don't like people abusing this and using for long periods of time.
No specfic limitation of use has ever been given and it would appear several factors could be used when deciding if/when to restrict the data on those excessively using practice mode

I wasn't referring to data charges but when somebody has their account restricted due to excessive API use without placing bets, there must be a tally that they're logging.

Not sure that's happened since they've been pushing data rather than users polling..?

@gstar... they won't clarify because people would sit on the limit.

Polling's been around for ages but you still get people being restricted?
