A bet is a bet.

However, if the bets were placed by a customer bot and Betfair's software failure allowed their credit limit to be exceeded, then Betfair should not make the customer pay. Betfair, however, should pay up.

I didn't see the in running screen (did quite well out of the race)...how do you know XM was switched off???

Today is the anniversary of this infamous incident, we never got a full explanation of what actually happened. Did anybody see the IBAS ruling?
