trading is about low risk, not taking large risks, thats the difference - not large risks with large swings in pand l, small (relatively to stakes) profits and loss.
Depends on whether you focus on swing or scalp based approaches though. If you are aiming to find big swings in trading then the risk goes up.
only if you dont cut out if the swing goes against you and you sit and hold hoping it will turn in your favour..

Yes, there are ways to 'reduce' the risk if you're a swing trader, but not so far as to say it's essentially 'low risk' I'd say personally. Swing trading is always fairly risky IMO.

If you essentially cut all trades that move against you (when trying to swing) you'd pretty soon delete any profits from the positive ones, so you have to hold enough of the time - that's why I find heavy swing trading a bit of a dark art, and very difficult long run.
In trading I prefer a more 'scalpy' view these days - which is ironic, as I come from a betting background, and still take positions that run at other times.

Pick your battles correctly and its not that difficult to grab some big swings and get a couple of grand in and out safely enough but I cut fast if its not doing what I expect that's the art of screen time its the best form of learning

Markets are good to me lately. My success rate is 90% for the last few days and the average win is the same as the average loss. I think I'm onto something.
