The only good thing about tonight was Lizzie Jelf showing a bit of breast. I had a £32 back bet on the group one, a chunk was taken and I must have waited 15-30 seconds for the rest of it to go even though there was no spread or money in front of it!
Last G1 of the season and a bit of slow day it seems.

Prepare for the slide of Aussie racing towards winter.
What is the stradbroke season like?
Queensland racing doesn’t do it for me. Neither does SA. Vic rules for me, by the length of the Flemington straight.

I've been keeping a close eye on volumes as we enter this period where there was no racing on last year in the UK.

There has been quite a drop on the average Aussie race, which seems to imply that people switched from UK to Aussie racing. But it's still a little higher than the same period in 2019.

I'm not completely sure what to make of it as this year we appear to be seeing a drop in UK volumes this week so it could be related to that. But the difference between Aus races in April this yer and last are definitely showing a sharp decline.

Makes sense that as uk racing stopped there was a switch to Australia.

In addition lots of people in Australia withdrew money from their super and a bit of that found its way into gaming and some to betfair. And others were just at home, bored and gambling.

What will be very interesting is the warnabool jumps carnival. That was huge last year with everyone at home. I’ll bet it struggles to even reach half of the volume of last year.

I think they usually have a break at this time of year, maybe to rest the turf. I was thinking of giving tonight a miss but Hawkesbury seems to have taken their place. :D

Hawkesbury is a terrible track for in-play trading. Once they are in the straight you can forget about it.

Any plans to bulldoze it and replace it with shitty apartments?

Winter's dragging its feet over here, still barely above freezing at night!

Wrong saddles on horses caused the delay at Hawks. Newcastle holding, there was never much time between the two meetings anyway!
