Australian rules grand final this weekend means Melbourne main metro meet is at Mooney Valley tonight instead of Satuday. Rosehill back Saturday.
Update, my bad. There is a Melbourne metro meeting today, at Sandown, complete with a G1 race. It's all a bit bizarre because usually no Melbourne metro on AFL grand final day. I guess because GF is in Perth instead of Melbourne and is at night instead of during the day.

Huge day today. Four G1 races. Epic. So big, there is the possibility of Peter waking up early to trade some of the later races - and then when it happens "I feel a disturbance in the force".

Have the clocks gone back down under? Racing seems to be starting late tonight.

Tonight (or more accurately at 2 am tomorrow morning AEST).

As a general matter, as we get more daylight coming out of winter start times go back a little before daylist savings time starts.

Lock down continues here in fortress Australia. No crowds permitted in Sydney (or Melbourne).

I just returned from Brisbane and the Sunny Coast, where wearing masks for the first time was very unsual. I reckon I turned up at the supermarket about 5 times without my mask. It was so hard to learn a new habit. I think they seem like a good idea, though.

We are doing the opposite at the moment. Trying to get used to not wearing masks.

I'm 27 and only in the past few weeks been able to have a second dose of vaccine. So it's been a slow process. We seem only 6-8 weeks away from everyone who wants to be vaccinated being able.

We can't hide from the virus forever, so there's a bit of anxiety of what's to come. Hopefully the vaccines, medications etc can keep improving and there's limited risk for even elderly people. After all, you can't eliminate all risk.

Yep that’s how good the Australian racing is today - early start for Peter.

Plenty of good stuff on today. Gearing up for the spring Carnival.
