One of the few sliver linings of a Betfair outage, is the
Opportunity to wind up the Betfaircvs twitter support person.

It’s developed to an art form .. and just a question of tone before they lose it and post something they shouldn’t, which normally gets taken down a while later.

It’s decent sport-and I enjoy it temendously.

What an awful job that must be. Just getting abuse every other day, while trying to maintain a congenial tone.

Probably on ten bob an hour too

Whilst I monopolised the rant thread for a while I wouldn't dream of conveying my rants into direct verbal abuse, but I must admit I'm happy for others to do it for me and enjoy reading the twitter page. I like The Longshot, who keeps posting pictures of Betfair monkeys.

I tend to prefix or suffix a rant to them telling them I know it's not their problem, but that they need to pass the grief on up the chain.

What’s going on, I can’t place bets via BF mobile app ?

What happens to my keep offset bets ?
The Betfair website and mobile app rely on the API so when it's down you won't be able to place orders from any platform.

A more pertinent question could be: Would major media outlets be interested - with said list of outage dates in hand - in a story on how a hugely innovative idea, which won the founders major awards on that basis, has come to this? That might wake up some sleepy fellas at the top of the food chain at BF HQ
That's how you get noticed: when something has the potential to seriously damage the bottom-line.

I think I'd love to see Peter contacting the CEO and CTO (and whoever else) advising them of the downtimes in a nicely-formatted spreadsheet, and suggesting that there are many media outlets who may be interested in using the data in a story.

I can't imagine there are many high-up corps who would ignore the possibility of such negative publicity after having had it brought to their immediate attention.

Peter also has a lot of clout which many of us do not.

i doubt if they would give a toss.

dont forget these last 3 or 4 years, the site as been much better than it used to be, and they have never given a toss in the past when crashes where much much more frequent than now.

the press would just regard it as a bunch moaning gamblers, and gambling is not something they will be to sympathetic about, or wish to be seen supporting.

apparently you should be thankful
Glass half full or glass half empty.
If you want to go through life being misery guts then that's your choice.
if you cover my loses due to wankers at betfair fecking up fair enough, otherwise give it a rest being a sanctimonious knowall bore.

i am sorry that was wrong/out of order on my part, i am just exasperated with the fuckwits at betfair, i should not have made a personal dig.

Well done on that. Shaun's an okay guy, most on here are, from my experience.

One of the most amusing things about the twitter feed is that people post questions and actually expect answers, only to find a repeated generic reply that ends in "sorry for any inconvenience", which only escalates the abuse.

I can't imagine the fury someone who lost two grand would feel when they're told, "sorry for the inconvenience".

to75ne I tried to send you a pm but you have them disabled. Don't worry about it, we're cool, I get it. And thx.

I'll just say that we all know how flakey BF are, this sort of sh!t happens and it probably always will. Playing it down is just my way of minimising the impact it has on me because when I get wound up, it's usually me that suffers in bad decisions later because i'm stewing on it. If someone elses way is getting mad then fair enough I should have respected that.

Crap day yesterday, I have just scraped the 'down' threads (there are two of them), here is a quick graph of posts per day:
Screenshot 2019-05-19 at 09.19.26.png
I will do some further analysis later but 2019 is looking bad with 40 distinct days of posts (average has been 59 per year)

And what we all suspected, distinct days where there are posts:

Thanks for doing that.

Not sure interesting is the right word, but it makes it clearer!
