That's true Derek but sadly the new global default assumption is that Brit's are ignorant and unwelcoming. So others will obviously tend to look for that and perhaps be defensive. You reap what you sow and when prejudice and assumptions are turned on us, some people can't understand why. Even light-hearted friendliness can be viewed with cynicism or as a passive-aggressive dig.
