The purpose of this Safety Servant to help prevent against those nasty losses that can occur as a result of the Betfair API down or another form of Betfair outage or issue by taking SP – but ONLY on unmatched closing/greening bets.

Why Take SP?
Once you have opened a position unless you close it or green up your at risk of losing your full stake in the event of Betfair going down or you have an internet issue/PC crash. By having closing bets in the market (outside the price) and taking SP if the worse was to happen before your greened up you at least still have them matched at SP and avoid a possible full loss wouldn’t. This includes if the Betfair API were to crash as even if it’s down for hours they will still reconcile and settle any unmatched bets were take SP was used.

Bet Persistence Take SP
Using a regular generic Take SP bet persistence option has a major disadvantage in that it will also take SP on any unmatched opening bets, so if you’ve just stacked up a number of orders and Betfair crashes and remains down till after the market closes you’ll have all them reconciled or matched at SP creating the same situation as having them matched and then the exchange going down.

Safety Servant Take SP
This Safety Servant is ALWAYS armed so will be active from the moment you open any market on your ladder or one-click trading screen and will then check the market every second and take SP IF there are any unmatched offset/closing/greening bet/s.

The Take SP Safety Servant works by using your NET stake and will only trigger and begin Taking SP on unmatched bets if your NET stake is greater than £0.00. In the image below you can see two unmatched opening bets are in the market – this could be 22 it wouldn’t matter because the NET is still £0.00

However, in the next image, there has been 1 bet matched and the NET stake is now showing £10.00, therefore the servant has started triggering (as you can see in the Servant Manager window)
If you wanted to you could cancel this bet and place it at another price and within 1 second it will be taken as SP.

If it gets matched your NET stake will return to £0.00 and you'll be able to place more opening bets WITHOUT the servant taking SP next opening bet/s you place will be ignored.

To use these servants just click on the AS Take SP on Closing Bets Betfair Outage Protection Safet Servant.Baf attachment links below and this will download them to your computer, then open your Servant Manager window and click the rules link at the top and then "Import a Rules File" as shown in the image, once imported it will now appear in your dropdown boxes and is ready to be started whenever required.

Once you have it imported into your Servant Manager it can be edited very easily simply by clicking on "Edit Rules File".

With any servant always run in practice mode first to ensure everything is working fine, and repeat this each time you make any changes.

See the following thread for step by step instructions on downloading and importing a servant into your Bet Angel, or see image below on where to import it in your Servant Manager.

If Betfair have an outage your green up (or any other bet/rule) won't be able to be placed, taking SP gives you at least some cover rather than having a full open position going in-play.

If there are no problems and you are able to green up then the won't be no unmatched bets left to take SP, so you have a double back up

Should this safety servant trigger once every second for the same unmatched bet? ie after a minute triggered 60 times?

Every type of file created and saved in Bet Angel is always forward compatible - it's just they are not backwards compatible (ie, they can only be used in the version they were made in or newer)
