Seems to be weighted towards whether you think a home match would be enough to overcome whoever we get, which looks like Germany at the moment.
If England finish top of the group the ro16 game is in Dublin isn't it?
Dublin has been abandoned and matches moved to London and Saint Petersburg instead.

Meaning D group winner plays at Wembley next, then goes to Rome for the quarter-finals and back to Wembley after that. (from wiki)

Thanks for that

It appears Southgate is to play the same the system as the past 2 games, I can see us losing Brazil 2014 style if we top the group

There's something wrong with a competition when there's an incentive not to win and you need to enlist the skills of a mathematician just to work out who plays who. Perhaps they should just have a draw for the final 16, and have it at the same time as the draw for the national lottery!

Don't like the calculations either, prefer the CL format. If it's logistically possible to tweak it then I don't see why not.

Would mean less overbacked draws though!

All of the final group matches should be on the same day at the same time ... those playing on the last day of the group matches hoping for a 3rd place to qualify are at an advantage to those who's last group match was first.

4 groups of 6, semi-final and final. No pissing about with 1st or 2nd place.

Better still, 4 groups of 4. There are 44 countries in Europe, do we need more than half of them in the tournament?

And WTF is Russia doing in the Euros???

They controlled several countrie now in the EU? They helped us beat the Nazis. Just a shame they have a democratically elected dictator that tries to kill his opponents. Ho hum.
But reaching out is better than turning your back, I think.

Russians are probably asking the same thing about England.

Another leaked lineup apparently, if true again then England have a real problem at their camp

All things considered I'm partly glad we don't have the stress of qualifying to worry about and some stupid injury time goal knocking us out, but at the same time that has taken a bit of the excitement off the match

@nickgoff79

If England win the group I make them 11.85% to win the tournament. If they come second that becomes 9.47%. If you go to the pub tonight & someone tries telling you we're better off coming second, tell them maths can be hard but not hard enough to prove they are definitely wrong

and normally I'd always like all the home teams to go as far as possible but wouldn't be to disappointed to see a good result for you kai.
That match is certainly going to be the more exciting of the two to watch!

Good point. UEFA should not only bar us from the Euros but they should have warned about it before the referendum. :)
