'Trading The Market' have put up a huge number of youtube videos and seem to be connected / own a company called 'Sports IQ.'

Sport IQ's website is supposed to be a fantastic source of data on football, greyhounds and horses. Users supposedly create their own strategies and Sports IQ selects the suitable matches / races for them to trade based on historic data.

Does anybody have any experience of TTM / Sports IQ?

Cheers al!

They seem high production, low value?

I think ideally you want it the other way around

I fear that hanging around too many Brits has turned me into a bit of a sceptic!

They made a howler on one of the videos that they produced, which I contacted them about because it involved me. Rather than acknowledge the error, correct the video, and issue an apology, they didn't do anything, so I don't trust them.

Everybody makes mistakes, but how you deal with them is the key factor.

I put my reports out for free and I run backtests for users when they ask  dont pay for stuff like this, the data is all out there to be used.

They get updated everyday - but I don’t retain old reports in the repo.

I used Sports IQ for a few weeks a couple of years back (football only)

It's useful more as a trigger tool to put new ideas in your head or think of something in a different way, like having a chat with a new person with similar interests kinda thing. After a while you realise it's like talking to a politician - they talk a lot but say little of substance.

The TTM videos are liberally dosed with a combination of fantasy, bullshit, and fairyland maths. As Peter said, they made a howler involving him (I don't remember that one), and the Gurubusters guy got into a running battle with them for a while over their highly improbable/near impossible claims too.

Thanks guys.

Yeah....the TTM videos are full of bullshit. They are there (I think) to encourage people to sign up for Sports IQ. Its like a marketing machine. They say they are not selling software but the anonymous people who are TTM admit they are shareholders in Sports IQ. Looking at Companies House, Sports IQ is doing nothing unless that's changed since their last accounts.

Sports IQ itself is useful and quite clever if you can avoid the 'mystical' elements which are no doubt there to make it appear they have some higher knowledge that the ordinary human doesn't.

The site is now branded black and green with links to Smarkets - must be a little bit of money coming in from that.

Not a quant so no real interest in what looks like an analytics platform.

It's clever branding but seems rather convenient to hide any real value behind a paywall of data, no? Very easy to dodge accountability by saying you are using the data wrong.

I see they have a somewhat active Discord, but I've come across quite a few similar ones where the people running them essentially seem like newbies themselves. Seen them start building commercial services before they've even confirmed their own edge, and others just cannot wait to eat it all up, because that's exactly what they look for, someone they think they can piggyback all the way to easy profit.

All that's apparently needed to gather a little following is handpicking a few decent results to post on Twitter, and then funneling the paying customers over to Discord. The loudest accounts on Twitter are the ones farming the most newcomers and keeping a steady supply of them coming through the door, especially when content creators like Caan etc aren't advertising products as much anymore, meaning newbies just end up buying whatever happens to be the latest trend.

A lot of these services have a common theme, they usually just try and find goals in matches, which effectively makes them glorified tipsters. Which is a bit ironic, because a lot of the football trading pros trade in between goals and make their money there.

But for me this is part of the greater (industry) problem, and these services seem in direct competition to software vendors as well, because their users don't generally need software to place a simple enough bet or gamble. They scoop up all the gullible new fish, bleed them dry, and leave them disillusioned with the whole thing. And in short we end up with less traders, less success stories, less active communities, less liquidity, less profit overall. Oh yeah, and a bad rep.

Any aspiring traders first need to cut through the first layer of BS. For me that was the TF.EU service ran by Bingo/Adster/Ian?, my intro into "trading", it took me a couple of months to realize they were cooking their books. All I ended up with was a snakeoil allergy and the core concept of scalping, which was enough of a starting point for me.

It blows my mind they are still running and (probably) doing well.
