Gary Neville in hot water after comparing the plight of striking workers to the workers building the stadiums in Qatar.

Putting aside the issues of Qatar hosting this tournament, from a football perspective it's ended up being one of if not the best in recent years with a cracking final to round it off.
Agreed, was really intensive but looking forward to normalcy again ;)

:D

I never really find much difference between sitting through a Liverpool or England match - both are as stressful, both often lose silly or crunch matches after building up your hopes - the only difference is Liverpool did sort themselves out after 30 years of hurt were as England march on to 60 years of it

BTW, good to see another good run for Croatia, how I'd loved to have seen them and Morocco in the final :D

That would have been exciting, watching Argentina and France battle it out for third place. :)

No disrespect Kai, but the final would be like a third-place playoff.

Ah well, that's maybe the best way to go out at least, by winning that playoff at the end :)

But Argentina must have gotten 5 penalties or so this tourney? That must be some kind of a record.

How many sleeps until 2026

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the 23rd FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men's soccer championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. The tournament will be jointly hosted by 16 cities in three North American countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The United States will host 60 matches, including every match from the quarterfinals onward, while neighboring Canada and Mexico will each host 10 matches. The tournament will be the first hosted by three nations

Plus having 50% more countries taking part and just three in each group is going to shake things up quite a bit

Could even be the 2025 World Cup!

The giant infant that is the FIFA president (or Gianni Infantino in Italian) now wants to have the World Cup every 3 years.

Thoughts?!

When I first saw Gianni Infantile I thought, he looks a decent bloke, can't be any worse than Blatter.

Never judge people by their appearance or predecessor.

Messi didn't win the world cup single-handedly like Maradonna is said to have done (not that I have clear recollections) but he seems to be getting all the credit and overshadowing his teammates.
