Difference is nobody died at Wembley. And at least two of the dead are children.MobiusGrey wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 4:02 pmI didn't see any difference between this and the scenes at wembley last year for the Euro finals. Same type of idiots with no consideration for anyone apart from themselves.

Dodgy transfer rumours obviously more importantDallas wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 3:49 pmA continents major football tournament and several left dead and barely any major news coverage either, quite shocking reallyTrader Pat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 10:48 pmAbsolutely.
Quite a few football journalists just carrying on tweeting about the latest transfer rumours and haven't even mentioned this. That's pretty damning in itself.

Great story on the pitch today if you're Irish.
Lopes, the #4 for Cape Verde , was born and grew up about half a mile from me and here he is up against Sadio Mane in the knockout rounds of AFCON

How nobody died at Wembley is more down to chance. Could quite easily have ended in tragedyTrader Pat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 4:16 pm

True. Nobody did die though but still it was wall to wall news for weeks and not just in the UK which I understand because it was a massive story. Here we have a situation where people did die and as Dallas has said it barely gets a mention.MobiusGrey wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 5:05 pmHow nobody died at Wembley is more down to chance. Ooh nasty collision between Mane and the Cape Verde goalie. Goalie looks like he's just been hit by a Wilder haymaker, gets substituted and then sent off! Cape Verde down to 9!
Mane took a nasty hit and went head first into the turf, surely has to be taken off?

Was relieved at first that he wasn't taken off, only as I was using some of my green from correct score to back over 2.5 at big odds! In hindsight though I'm still bemused by footballs lack of head injury protocols compared to rugby.

FIFA will probably need to bring in mandatory substitutions for collisions like that. Mane looked like he was out cold when he hit the ground.
Five minutes later though he curls one into the top corner!

Egypt are such a frustrating watch.
Don't know if its the coach or that the players aren't very bright but every time they get in a good position they shoot instead of giving it to Salah. Probably the best player in the world and they just ignore him.

Another penalty shootout win for the underdog!
The only thing worse than the pitches this AFCON is the commentary. The comms are in the UK pretending to be at the stadium and its so obvious they're not, every now and then they slip up.
