Is it possible to say :
Show volume available to back/lay 0-500 in yellow
501-3000 in red
3001+ in Blue
If so, would it affect the performance of the ladder ?

Yes it could be done using markers,

Performance wise you'd be fine on any half decent modern PC/Laptop but it would require a lot of setting up depending on how far outside the best three prices you wanted to go on each side of the book
At the bottom of the 1st page of that topic I recently posted an example of how to create the Stored Values to highlight the money waiting to back at the 4th price

Maybe use a % of the selection's traded amount? Fixed amounts might not work well from one market to the next. As usual I'm just being a sticky-beak
