Hi all,

Have been reading up and watching some stuff on courtsiding, and was just wondering if anyone here does it in the UK... Is it still possible in 2022?

from my understanding it is not illegal, but somewhat frowned upon, and so possibly a good idea to conceal what you are doing if courtsiding. And all the things I've watched on YT about it, they are using several bookies accounts.... why not just use the exchange!? :?:

Thanks for any insights :)

It’s not illegal but whatever you do don’t get caught. You will end up on a blacklist very quickly and be banned from major sporting events.

It’s been going on for years and very sophisticated now.

Good luck, you will need it. 🫠

Thanks Archery... is there a risk of losing your betfair account, or wouldn't they care? Its all commision for them at the end of the day init. Or is this why people use bought/borrowed bookie accounts?

I don't think Archery is a dreamweaver as I have read his comments in the past about this subject. Possibly inside knowledge, perhaps !!!
Personally, I have used rail-runners previously, one a member of this community. It's not as clandestine as all appears, and not difficult to work out their MO, and their are some sofistcated methods.

Your Betfair account should be fine.

Some people have been ejected from Football, Cricket, Tennis and Snooker events around the UK. One or two have been then arrested by the Police and asked to explain earnings etc. One I know of was then subject to HMRC checks which made his life hell for a number of months and only allowed to withdraw £50 per day from his UK bank account. It all depends what they suspect you of doing.

If you get caught doing it overseas then in some countries you can end up in some serious trouble. Someone I personally know got deported from Australia for courtsiding Tennis matches.

I believe someone got ejected and tablet taken at Wembley at the weekend during the boxing.

Usually, in the UK you will just get asked to leave, mostly in a polite manner but can involve some over zealous/weight security personnel at some venues etc.

Because of time delays, however short, there is some chatter about VAR being hacked/looped into by certain clever individuals, which I am guessing would be highly illegal and possible get you prison time.

Anyway, i know nothing ;) Just be careful ;) And do your homework ;) Probably best not on an open forum ;)

Best one I have ever seen was at a football match in 2014.

Was sitting next to someone who kept tapping their legs left and right and seem to have a permanant smile, even when his our team was losing. At half-time we went for a pie and drink. Then happened to be in the toilets and he pulled out what I thought was a very large mobile phone with two paddles/plates attached. He cleaned it all and then put it back down his trousers, why he didn't do it in a cubicle i have no idea.

Game finished, he seemed even more happy. For the entire game in-play he never stopped tapping his bloody legs, left then right.

As we got up to leave, i said, mate you alright, medical problem, why so happy, our team just lost 3-0. He said, yeah but i just made allot of money. Never saw him again at home or away games.

No idea exactly what he was doing but obviously something around goals scored etc.

Even from football? Everybody has mobile phones these days though.
I didn't realise if I had a bet on the football whilst attending a game that I might run into trouble?
Tbh, I don't go to matches, I'm just saying if I did ;)

It depends on the ground and if you get spotted. There was a guy at a championship game who got ejected and phone confiscated, its was in the press, club later said sorry. I believe a company was gathering in-play stats there and charging customers subscription, so he was potentially hitting their business model. They reported him to security and he was removed.

But yes, these days everyone seems to be at the game with a mobile device. Not sure how they tell who is upto no good and who is just taking photo's. Although I believe thats not allowed at some events if you read the small print. Same as though people who goto music conserts/cinemas's and basically record it or live stream etc.

Guys, it's possible to make money from the comfort of your own home. You could even watch a bit of porn if you're bored in between events without a woman standing over you're shoulder and reporting you.

But sometimes you just need to be at the event Derek. Like that cricket match in South Africa with that couple having sex in the stand some years ago. Soaking up the atmosphere so to speak. 😂

This court siding might be an issue in the UK, but Im watching Nadal right now at the ATP Madrid tour, and there's a whole row of guys sat behind Nadal all engrossed in their phones

I love it when a tennis player appears to serve an ace and the market moves several ticks in his favour. Then the umpire calls it out, the market moves back and the courtsiders have done their money. :)

I acted as a spotter for a football team once after I introduced them to the concept. There were five people in the ground that we spotted.

Wimbledon is incredibly strict.

I seem to remember that in a Tennis match either just before or after Covid first hit, and the server had to wait till the screaming stopped/quietened down before he could take his serve - so everyone else on court and in the crowd had nothing else to do but listen and wait it out
