TPD Feedback and Issues

Please be aware that we posted this in our Telegram News Channel early this morning; To confirm that we unfortunately suffered a major issue yesterday evening re all races post 18:00hrs. For some reason our systems were not receiving the Betfair IDs and other Betfair market information, for races after 18:00hrs. The Developers were unable to fix this yesterday however they are investigating further this morning and an update will be published as soon as possible. Apologies for the disruption.

I've currently traded/monitored around about 300+ races using the data from TPD. All of my trades are automated and I'm continually tweaking my parameters (as expected). One of the questions that I have is how to deal with those races where all of the data indicates one thing but on the odd occasion the opposite happens, i.e you back a selection and then it trails in towards at the rear. Obviously you can double-check the parameters that you have set (and this is an ongoing process) but failing that do you just put it down to 'well that's going to happen now and then'? I'm guessing that the latter is the case as long as the losses don't affect the profits too much in the long term?

Depending on what you are doing, price can be a very important piece of information to include. eg if your TPD analysis is telling you horse X is going to win but that horse is trading at 200/1 then it is likely your TPD conclusion should be disregarded.

How often do the TPD map tiles get updated?

It's a bit difficult to follow track position at the new Belmont Park...

Some interesting and valid points raised below. We have been looking at the delay in updating for a little while now - all connected to the system requiring info from three separate sources/suppliers. The wider Team are looking at the points as a whole and we will publish a full response next week.

Many thanks for updating the page; it is much clearer and more informative now.

Two quick things.

1. JUMPS column. On flat races this cell should stay empty, but now and then a flat race shows a marker there. Would be good if that could be tidied up.
2. "No Pars - Insufficient Data". How many past races are needed, and over what period? It would also be useful to see roughly how many more are required before pars kick in.

How often do the TPD map tiles get updated?

I think the timeout on the cached tiles is a year, but you could force a download by deleting the cached ones from:
C:\Users\<YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Bet Angel\Bet Angel Professional\TileStore

Does anyone know what the Bet Angel/TPD timing constraints are for delayed races?

All the four rescheduled Ayr races failed for me, with the 16:50 working right up to gate loading at 17:50. Is there some sort of 1 hour cut-off at either Bet Angel or TPD level? Or is there something buried in my automation rules file set to stop working after an hour? If there is then I can't find it.

I'm not aware of anything on the Bet Angel side that would disconnect the TPD feed after an hour. As long as it was still receiving data or a heartbeat from the TPD stream it would continue to work with the data.

Apologies - yes you are correct it got buried.
Will make the wider Team aware of the Jumps anomaly.

Pars - our Data Scientists consider the Pars algorithm to be proprietary information, however what we can say publicly is that a minimum of 10 observations are required. Not sure that there is any great value in declaring how may observations we have as we could be one or two shy of the ten but it could still take some considerable time to hit the ten, bearing in mind the variable nature of some of the underlying inputs.
