Perhaps should have made a poll instead but what do you think about users posting P&L's without any context?
Seems to be a bit of a controversial subject so curious to hear people's thoughts on this, from newbies and lurkers to veterans and pros etc.
Asking since for example the biggest (day)trading forum on Reddit (4.7M subs) doesn't allow this and only wants such content to be for educational purposes.

12 month chart.
I feel suicidal most days!
Only posting as an example showing that without context this looks good.
Posted without context as this looks successful, but the stakes are small.I feel suicidal most days!

I don't mind people posting PLs.
And for the doubters about the Memphis's numbers ending with 00. I know he stakes the last few races he'll do that day so that it ends all tidy, and has done that for donkeys years. Class act imo who's much derided.

Same, think its just part of the noise, bit like bluffing is a part of poker
You can't show your hand but the experienced can often infer the missing context anyway, unlike the inexperienced who don't have that luxury
The flex culture isn't as extreme as in day trading communities, where aggressive advice with harsh reality checks seems to be the norm as well
I get your annoyance but would you rather see P&Ls without context or not see them at all
No point in direct comparison but it's just another piece of info/data that can serve as a reference point
I get that repeatedly flexing profits to newbies when they were probably involved in making them isn't something you'd call classy
But there will always be people who start flexing profit long before they make any, that's just part of human nature you need to accept
Although the opening post was really just a question of how much the forum should cater to "newbies," would have also been interesting to hear their perspective

Earlier this week, I had a pre-off trade which I opened by deliberately catching a downward surge at the very bottom of its traded range. My whole stake was matched and I closed out 62 seconds later for 17 ticks at what turned out to be the highest point the price reached before the market went in play.
Now I only made a tenner, but the whole trade was so perfect I was desperate to tell someone. I mean, how often does it turn out like that? In and out for the maximum number of ticks on offer?
With that in mind, if people want to post an occasional, context-free profit and loss because they’ve had an exceptionally good trade I’ve got no problem with that.
This is an awfully solitary activity, so if you post up a massive, one-off green because it’s an important result for you, go ahead and I’ll be genuinely pleased. It serves as a reminder of what’s possible, too.

Nice, although the penny must be disappointing.MemphisFlash wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 7:43 pmShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 12:38 amI don't mind people posting PLs.

How are you getting on long term? Is your 30 or 90 day P&L as impressive?
